You make a strong and true argument :) It's really just the nature of the society we live in. I think we re likely to see a massive increase in bankruptcies over the next three years than anything.

I think your right, along with a huge correction in the housing market.

Expectations for UK housing are -15% or so over the next two years. I think it'll be even more for city-centre apartments, there's been a massive glut of new developments here over the past five years, and they've been overpriced because of the trendy image.

Yeah. Part of the problem right now is that the housing market has been allowed to run rampant for the past several years (since 9/11, really) and tons of people were allowed to get houses that they absolutely could not afford on garbage loans with adjustable rates and now they can't afford their mortgage and eat at the same time. The other idiotic side effect of this is that it drove house prices up over 200% in many areas even though the average person could not afford those houses... and then those people were encouraged to buy.

I don't feel bad for the housing market at all right now. I didn't contribute to it's current state and the loan sharks CAUSED the problem themselves (and now they aren't making any money).
