No, its not closing, and no it was cause odie lost his temper. Nothing more. Most people love our server as it shows in the responses here. Go back to your bridge you disturbed troll ;)

I'm.... not trolling. The GD EAS server is my favorite server. I have no idea what set odie off to think that people thought differently.

Odie does NOT like cursing when you talk to him. I was joking around with him the other day in a post and listed 2 curse words (shudder) and he went ballistic threatening to shut down the EAS server, Kill the TS server, tear down the forums, and then kill himself in a fireball of glory after dousing himself with gasoline. I quickly begged forgiveness and saved the day for INF!

You're a real hero.

Odie, never think that your work isn't appreciated at all, usually the less vocal majority are very happy with your service. It is, as usual, the more vocal minority that can ruin it.

Very true Crowze [as seen by the way this thread has gone]. The last few weeks I have tried to make minor changes with GD EAS Server then post polls for the more major game play settings. There are not a lot of us players and very few servers to chose from. So, I think it is very important to listen to everyone [this sets me up for a ruff ride].

However, as NT has pointed out I have a very thin skin when someone starts to what I see as rude comments. Generally it is just a misunderstanding on my part and of the author *thinking* they are being silly/funny.

I personally love RT. I know people complain about it a lot, but everytime I have asked someone to show a bug in it they have failed.

When standing still, the hitboxes for RT are quite good. If you aim correct, you will hit.

The problems come from hillbugging, lag, protruding blockalls, etc.

In addition, the random damage can frustrate players that expect a target to go down after "x" number of shots. This then causes them to think they missed and to blame RT...

The main things I think that need to be fixed in RT are:
1) 100% tracers... ug
2) Get rid of scaled ballistics, I think the 60% scale to supposedly compensate for monitor FOV is bs. 100m is a 100m no matter what it looks like. The shooting range is correct.

Lastly, if there is a major bug in RT it might be additional lag. It is hard to tell, but it seems like it is necessary to lead targets more when RT is active than when it is not. This seems rather hard to test though.

And Odie, plz plz plz don't scare us like that again!!! GD EAS and DTAS is all us NA players have left to save us from TDM damnation.

100% tracer was not a RT problem... was a server problem
The setting on the GD server was for AllTracers for some reason... stayed that way over a month. I'm probably to blame for it... :(

The ballistic is scaled by default at 100%. most server keep it that way. 100% = the normal scale. The scale is NOT fixed and can be changed server-side. It will stay that way.

Also, yes you need to lead more with RT because a large part of the original hit cylinder (vanilla hitbox if you like) is behind the player when it is moving forward. You have to lead too in vanilla, but it is more "apparant" since the hitbox is smaller.

The is a shifting though, although minor (but perceptible), it's among the first thing I will fix.

Personally i hate Unlagged code. It comes from Q3A. But maybe something like that could be implemented in RT. Now don't bash, i'm not for it at all. But i'm open minded for testing purposes. If RT has a clientside hit detection/verification then that ends need for leading shots, then maybe its useable. Ofcourse, up to a certain amount of ms delay, i'm not willing to sacrifice my 150 ping so someone with 500 can hit me.
As for bugs, i have a sshot or two where im offline shooting bots in the head and missing every shot. They may be map related (clipping etc) but not all the time.

Send those screenshots to Geogob.

As for clientside hit detection, no thank you.

I've had instances where I've fired two STANAG magazines into the back of a player and not one of the bullets were detected. With no lag I might add.

Screenshots? Sorry...I don't really know when these things are going to pop up, but I do remember Ghost yelling over TS, 'shoot him! c'mon! he's right there, shooooooot!!!!' when in reality, I was emptying mags like a TDM player...

He turned around and started to fire - by chance, I decided to shoot to the far left side of his body, and sure enough, he died when I hit his hitboxes that were at least five feet away from his model. Neat huh?
