Thanks a lot, guys. I'm glad you likes. You've definitely picked the best two of the five. I finished the fifth tonight. Here's a pick of the one I used for my avatar. Once I get this stuff Umod'ed up (a whole new can of worms for the noobie that is me), I'll be submitting like a madman.

And yeah, I wanted to keep the audience wide. Also, I guess I'm still kind of nostalgic for the days of simple abnormally buffed up folk running around with guns. All the same, I tried to keep the five different. However the one I did tonight I'm actually calling the father of this one pictured here, who I'm calling the cousin of "Torch." Yeah, I like to take liberties like that. :D

Also, all of my skins have an aurabesh 'B' somewhere on them. It's kind of my calling card, I guess, just in case I keep doing this. B for BabyEater, which is my player handle. It's aurabesh because I'm a complete StarWars nerd.

As for my face-ability, I cheat like a mad ho. I basically take five different skin faces and sort of kit-bash them to my liking, maybe throwing in a texture here and there from pictures of friends. I think for my next pack, if I get around to it, I may do a Special Forces sorta kinda themed thing and use original faces. Plus, I'm going to try modeling, but nobody hold your breath.

Yup I knew I'd like that one most (from what I've seen). The face is excellent - I still have trouble doing them. Modelling I was gonna but it's seriously on hold since I had a look at 3D Studio - That was okay but the tutorials weren't the best. Me, I'm moving onto modding or mapping reasonably soon or maybe I'll join a mod team for a challenge :) Anyway keep up the good work! Oh, nice to know youre keepin it in the family, lol

Oh man. I had trouble writing the bot script for my newest skin. He just didn't want to show up at all in games. But I figured out I had to make exceptions because I used the MALCOLM mesh. He's all better now. :D I'll umod it all together tomorrow hopefully.

The Umod wizard was written for older ut2mods and utmods... It won't work for ut2k4 unless ut2k3 is on the same machine as the codings changed :( I've already contacted the author(s) and they tell me they'll work on a new one when they can :)

Additional things to include within the zip file:
Don't forget to add a nice "Readme" file on how to install etc...
A good quality Image (But watchout for the file size) so people can preview the skins without having to install, this also helps sites that you submit it to (Or worse they leech!).
Also be sure to credit yourself within the "Readme" so other sites that post the zip know who to credit to aswell. ;)

yeah i'm going to take another evening and recompress all the images. these are just too danged big.

EDIT: Nevermind. lol Not helping. I just wish I could upload via FTP to SkinCity and whatnot, rather than emailing and php uploading. Ugh.

Alright, I've submitted a link to a hosted file to SkinCity. UnrealHQ, unfortunately, has a PHP submission form where you must include the file. Well, it times out before all 30 mb are uploaded, so ::shrug:: I wish people would freakin use FTP. :p

Anyway, if you would like what I've got done so far, PM me and I'll send you a link to the file. But it is a beta release, I guess, and is still subject to change pending feedback from SkinCity.

In the meantime, here's a pic of all five skins.

What compression did ya use on the textures in the editor? DXT1 is the highest compression and DXT5 the lowest. I've always stuck with DXT3 although the new skins in ut2k4 seem to be DXT1 (probably for performance reasons). 30MB is v. v. big, lol :D

Still haven't seen that movie, however I may end up seein' it tomorrow. :)

In the meantime, I've been thinking about doing another pack (yes, I know it's early, but still) featuring all the retired old farts from Condor's unit.

Here's Condor (included in the Speculum pack - pit stains and all)

Here's the first new one I've been working on.

They'd all be somewhat similar, I suppose. But I kinda like the idea of the wisened old spec-ops guys running around schooling everyone. I probably won't do a full five. It would get pretty redundant. But maybe three or four.

Feedback?
