Performance Woes

Are there any tips for making Unreal 2 run better? Loading times take about a minute, and during gameplay my character seems to lurch forward, like my speed is variable and never constant. I'm playing on a dual core x2 6000 with 2 gigs of ram and a geforce gts 250.

Try turning off cool 'n' quiet while playing. It sounds like the processor is clocking up and down and messing with the game speed.

And keep an eye on your framerate (stat fps). If it goes too high, then it may cause problems, though it doesn't do that when the average is 220 FPS the last time I checked.

Thanks, turning off cool 'n' quiet in the bios helped my inconsistent speed. Load times still take forever, but I can live with that.

Load times have always been like that in U2, even in all UE2 games like UT2004

UT2k4 always had decent loading times. But U2 is piss slow. Even with 4GB ram.

It's very fast here, with 4 GB RAM. I guess that doesn't matter, the CPU does more.
