Hi guys, I have problems with my performance
I have a Celeron 600, 64 mb-ram, Ecs P6BAP-A+ and a Creative Geforce 2mx...
I have the latest drivers of Nvidia, motherboard, monitor, directX 8.0..

When I Unreal Tournament in dm-Pressure, 800x600 16bit, medium detail, direct3d.. I have a fps of 30 when I play offline... No problem at all !

When I play Infiltration in dm-Pressure, 800x600 16bit, Low Details, direct3d... I have a fps of 17 when I play offline...
My fps is 10 when I play a INF map online... :(

I have a 3dfx voodoo 1 too...
I tested this at Infiltration and my fps was 17.
That's why I am using a 3dfx voodoo 1 instead of my Geforce 2mx

My voodoo 1 is (I think) 4-mb and my Geforce is 32 mb-ram
This all looks like a joke but it isn't... :mad:

I have tried allot with some clanmates of my clan, Like drivers, bios settings.. stuff like that.. I have set my CacheSizeMegs in to 12, but it didn't helped a thing...

Can someone please help me with me weird problem??

Tweaks with a Geforce 2 MX

This MIGHT help. I'm using direct 3d at the moment. Go to the console, and type 'Preferences' (no quotes)

open rendering, then direct 3d
set:
Coronas to false;
Shiny surfaces to false;
Use precache off;
Use video memo true.

Then open the advanced bit back at the top of the tree, gp onto game engine settings and set cache size at 8 meg.

In normal prefs in ut i use 32 bit medium world texture and medium skin detail.

Some people recommend tuning off anti-aliasing on your GFX card too. Haven't tried that yet.

[edit]Having said all that, has this problem only started with the 85.5 patch? Some people are reporting performance issues with it...[/edit]

try ...

Below is the d3d section from my ini file.
U may wanna pay special attention to

UseAGPTextures=False
UseVideoMemoryVB=True

Try those 2 see if they help.
And maybe also

UseVSync=False

Keep in mind the MX cards are kinda slow, even compared to a geforce 1 DDR. Dunno wht they got such a good rep as they did. A GF1 DDR or Radeon will prob offer more fillrate. That slow memory really puts a cap on the geforce chips.

P.S. I would SERIOUSLY consider getting AT LEAST another 64 MB of system RAM seeing as how it's so cheap now 64 is pretty low for most stuff.

I have tested my computer again with 160 mb-ram.

I tested Unreal Tournament on 1024 x 768, 32 bit, High details.

My average fps was 28.

After that I tested Infiltration on 640 x 480, 16 bit, low details

my average fps was 25

after that, I tested 3dmark2001 on 640 x 480 16 bit

result was 1027 points

Notice anything???? Your Running a >Celeron<
it wont work on your CPU, I spent a month reaserching GForce 2's and that was my problem, I was running a celeron too...
i had to get myself a Pent II 233 atleast, so I went the whole nine yards and got a Gig processor and new mother board just to get a GForce 2, and just to play Inf with out lag from Polly's and Grafic's...

Sorry to say this but you'll need to get a new CPU to run your GForce 2 MX...
sorry for the bad news... but atleast you know what it is...

you can goto http://www.3dblaster.com/products/gf2mx/system.asp
to verify this if you want

good luck in the future
and next time look on the box and see if your system meets its Min Spec's...

i get 40-50 fps with direct 3d, and like 60 with open Gl i don't use open gl cause i get this weird see though wall problem with it. I have all the options selected too high quality textures. I use d3d cause its better looking i think. When i first got my GeForce 2 i had MAJORRR problems with it. I found that installing Direct X 8.1a 3 times get eveerything working, don't ask why...

it UT and INF, the main variable is the processor.... period.

you can have a Voodoo5 or a Voodoo3 or a Geforce2 and your framerates will not differ "that" much with the same processor.

for example, i just went from a P2 200 to a Athlon 850. Framerate went up 30 FPS. in getting a new video card (went from V3 to V5) FPS went up only 5 FPS.

plus, you've got a processor that's made for webbrowsing and word processing, NOT gaming.

that's my 2 cents...
