if you used to get your ip for the desktop from the router automatically you might have to set it manually on the desktop. at least i think thats what i did when i tried that once.

Anyways, my only knowledge on this: there's a similar error happening on PS3 systems (Not often, but it does happen) where the system will appear to boot up fine for about two seconds, then shut itself off. It was determined that the cause was a bad power supply (Someone switched it out after they had the error and it got fixed).
Just saying this because from what you said it seemed like the same kind of issue
and before anyone says it; I know it would be cheaper to build it myself, but I had always wanted one, and it's freakin' awesome Yeah you and Azura may be right, but I'm not going to do anything about it for now, it works fine without the wireless adapter so I'm just going to see how things go.
