Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.
Jeez, for someone so adept with pen and paper, you're quite the mental lilliputian when it comes to realizing you're talented enough to be creating professional artwork.

Ballist: it doesn't matter how good you are, you need a degree before anyone even looks at your work these days. Unless I find someone who can hook me up right away, thats at least 3 years off for me.
Sp!ke: The portrait took me about 6-8 hours total spread out of 2 weeks. And you found my sig? interesting. I made that as part of my art homework a few weeks ago. Glad people like it enough to be stealling it and circulating it around

Agrees with Ballistophobia. I have had no formal education in painting and I have sold some of my oil paintings on the side. Not to say that a degree won't help but it's not required if you are truly passionate about your work. Build up a good portfolio and let that do the talking

You can get people to look at your book without a degree. My advice to young folks or people just starting out in design. Is take work anywhere you can get it. Build up your portfolio and along the way you will gain valuable experience. Dealing with clients and most importantly of all, providing designs that are purchased will help with your development. Don't put everything in your book also.
Illustrators and fine artist are not that sought after. The field is competive and jobs are hard to come by. Graphic design, Apparel design and Industrial design (Auto Cad, Architect etc..) are the disciplines that will pay well and give you a long career path.
I like designers who can draw, manipulate type and manipulate images (altering or creating new designs, say in photoshop). Very rarely do I come across ones that can do all three, let alone do it well.
Last tip - do not rely on technology for great design. Use it to enhance only. Too many people are filter crazy.

It's not the fact that you can use it, but to think of a way using it different than others and make it look good

I see too many people using filters for the sake of having them available. The concept has to be sound or all lis lost. That is true with all disciplines of design.

I took a quick look at your sig gallery. Not sure why you wanted me to look. Are you looking for a critique or just to show you can come up with many many different sigs?

well... i can make pics with or without filters and if i use them, i never use 1 alone, (hi there pixelate and tv-line lama's) i try to let them be a tool of my creative moment, not the center of my picture

This is what I am talking about. Filters are not the means to an end. When used well, they enhance a concept. But I digress. Ultimately here we are talking about sigs where great design is rarely achieved. I see some great artistic talent around here, that can't be ignored. Hopefully all the budding artist here will get to design for a living.
