New UT2007 pic (ps3?)

im in love with that shock rifle....and the manta... and the raptor... and the Goliath.... and of course the scorpian...... looks like UT2007 is going to have much better models from an artistic standpoint

EDIT: Just read the article.... q1 release! woot! and i saw another pic of the shock rifle.. and that think is massive! whoa... its really looks like the devasting weapon it is! i cant wait for 2006!

I love the visual style of that map. Reminds me of an old UT map called DM-The Strip, which apart from being a porno map, had a great street-design which I rather preferred to the more mainstream urban custom maps.

The vehicles and Malcolm all look amazing of course (though the Raptor could do with a bit more style in my opinion)... I don't like the shock rifle much, but as it's the Unreal Championship 2 version it'll almost certainly be changed.

Those screens are the same ones that Epic generated for a magazine article a while back. They sure look great! :)

I'm not sure what to make of that ShockRifle pic though! The side view looks very cool. But surely, that lower pic of it isn't the view that you'll see on screen... it's GI-NORMOUS!

Before UT2004 i wouldave agreed but didnt UT2004 get released on schedule?

I doubt the any of the weapons will change much from UC 2. UT99 weapons, for the most part, were just like the Unreal ones, they are probably trying to link the two games back together. I may be wrong since I never played UC 2. Though, even if UC 2 is just the Xbox version of UT200x that would make it even more reasonable to keep them similar, wouldn't it? I personally love that shock riffle model, though I agree that the Raptor looks off. I mean its sweet and all, but it doesn't look like it could fly.

Just take a look at the shock rifle at www.unrealchampionship2.com > weapons > energy. It's touched up a little, but it's the same design.

The concept of the model does look great, I agree, it's a nice hybrid of the UT1 shock rifle and the chunkier later versions. However, in the first-person view... it's horrible. I'd probably choose Hide Weapon just to avoid being distracted by its clunky lack of aestheticism when trying to pull off a combo. Not to mention it looks obviously consoley, to me anyway.

Oh, I know it's based off the UC2 models (i own UC2), but I don't get why everyone assumes that the models they are showing will not be in the game.

actually, I think I know... cause you don't like them! :D

iirc Sweeney has done what Carmack did with Doom3. (only Geforce3 or better)
Hes drawn a line at Pixel shader 2.0 compatible cards.

So if you buy a pixel shader 2 card all is well.

This is just what i think ive read and i have no links to proof it.
Maybe someone can shed some light over this?

Lol, well yeah, there's that ;).
Also, Epic have never really tried just touching up old models in the past Unreal games, all the new models have been conceptually different. Maybe I'm a bit weird but one of the things I get most excited over when a new UT game's on the horizon is drooling over the new models (weapon or otherwise); I'd be muchly disappointed to find that the new weaponset not only isn't new but is being taken from a set designed for console gamers.

Mind you, with today's news about a projected release date of Q1/Q2 2006, I have to admit you may well have a point about these being the final models. Woe! :(
