boron, I just noticed while looking at your gun again.

is that a sully stock?

if it is how do you like it?

I was thinking about the entry tactical A2 stock or the Sully stock but decided I really wanted the collapsible CTR stock.

I'm not a big fan of AKs, especially the clones... The M4 both look cool, even if the second is somethat too big for me (that thing seems an M16 to me).
Oh, great pics [UMC]Boron. :D

Aren't flash suppressors illegal in the US now?

Anyway ... Nice rifles.

technically yes if a suppressor creates a 0 signature.

however most that are sold in the states are legal and usually call themselves flash hiders and just lower the visible signature.

with sound suppressors you have to pay a 200$ tax stamp to legally own a sound suppressed rifle, or short barreled rifle or full-auto rifle in the states.

most common sound suppressor are what they call 'cans', they don't actually do the job but they make a rifle look 'tacticool'. most flash suppressors/hiders are about muzzle control more than 0 signature.

Where's the 40mm automatic grenade launcher, or the HMMWV, or the nuclear submarine?

P.S. you forgot the Death Star!

*it is real, and not so long ago, or so far away*

*The global credit crisis is from the US giving Darth Vader a risky loan... they should have known aliens don't make repayments!*

Since I am appearing in OT after like a year of absence for no reason, I'll share a little info on my weapons (no pics yet though).

I have a Colt CAR-A3 HBAR Elite with a 24" barrel, a bipod, and a 3-9x Basic Duplex Scope...Yup, still the sniper :D.

My secondary is a HK USP .40 SA/DA with decocker and lever safety and Tritium Sights. 13 rounds a mag, and big holes in the target. I'm planning on swapping the barrel for a threaded USP .40 Tactical barrel.

I want to pick up a Sig SG553 too.

Just read about the new SIG SG556, seems to be mostly a 16" carbine hybrid between a SG550 and an AR15. I still think the SIG SG550 is sexier though!

Sadly i don't have any good auto's (damn Australia!), what i've still got at the moment is a Sporterised 1918 Lithgow SMLE MKIII* (.303brit), a 1942 Longbranch No4 (.303brit), and Lithgow Model 1b (.22LR). I'm desperately trying to get my father to part with his BRNO Fox (.22 K-Hornet), and i'm keenly looking at either a M91/30 Mosin Nagant, or an ex-military Mauser of some make.

I still have to make photos of my FN Minimi, USP .45, Wilson Combat 1911, Mossberg M500 and a Pistol that looks like a mix of QSZ 92 and Sig Sauer.
The next gun may be a Famas, but i have to check her out first if she`s worth it

i prefer the rifle because of its backward weight, this comes really handy when mounting a Masterkey or m203. And changing the battery is faster because you only need to open a small hatch in the fixed stock, while you have to dissasemble the handguard on the carbine and this can cost you many precious seconds. Using the M4 Carbine with a RIS-Mount, makes it top-heavy, and you need an extern battery holder and this gives you additional weight, and therefore it gets really uncomfortable to play with IMO !
But if you just want to use an M4 without a Mount, the Carbine is your best choice, because of its light-weight!
And another reason why i prefer the Rifle....there aren`t so much running around with a rifle :D
Snake, if you are interested in playing, i can give you an link to an Airsoftclub near Graz, or you stop by us in Upper Austria, almost every Club has at least 1 ASG for rent !

Well, how do we say in German: "Jedem das Seine."

Actually I'm not too much into Airsoft - since it includes outdoors activities in the time between spring and autumn, which is kinda depressing for me since I'm allergic to pretty much anything; it's pretty hard to remain undetected if you have to sneeze every thirty seconds ;). Plus I don't think I can run more than 500m without collapsing afterwards :D.

Apart from that those electro-ASGs are pretty expensive IIRC (I bet you can get the Chinese AKM clone cheaper in real - well you could if you didn't live in Austria..), and while they do look nice mostly, it'd just not be the real thing - once you're fired a real assault rifle on a nice range you can't really go back. Man, if I'd live in the US or Switzerland I'd probably waste all my money on ammunition..

Prizes are between 100 and 3000€ , de G36e for example costs 130€, but it`s china made, so the quality is not so good. The real good things start at 300€

Actually M4s are usually issued with telescopic stock - probably because the fixed full size stock looks really awkward - did you chose the rear stock on purpose or was a telescopic one not available?

the M4 designation can be broken into a few parts;

1 the barrel is 16" rather than 20"
2 the barrel is ported at carbine length for DI gas port
3 the barrel has a m203 notch in it
4 the upper receiver 'usually' has the full auto selector, along with 3-round, semi and safe
5 the 4 position stock is usually standard

as for civy use, its all about the owner.

personally I was going to buy the stubby entry stock for it http://www.rockriverarms.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=299
but I'm a really big fan of MagPul so I went with the CTR stock. even though I have never moved the stock off of the 2nd position.

my problem with telescoping stocks is that they usually remove to much weight and you have a front heavy rifle. unless you have been shaving weight from the front end. which I didnt, I have a standard weight carbine length 4-rail and my rifle is weighted towards the front.
