Not enough love in this thread, and for what it's worth- regardless of the content of SRH's posts, nothing justifies repeated, sustained, hostile responses from a respected long-standing moderator. Very unprofessional, poor show.

Congratulations all, and for my part I'm probably most delighted with the 5th Best Gfx for AFF-Meudeverre, perfect validation for the hundreds of man hours put into a level which STILL isnt finished

It's not like SRH can't take it anyway, he's well used to it by now

The mods\admins are really just regular people; being all professional and crap isn't necessary, it's not like this is some huge business corporation thing.

My 2 cents in respect to the much discussed DM-Foundry winning:

The outside area of the map is among the best I've ever seen for UT. I just love it. The actual foundry is in stark contrast to that; I don't like the architecture - to me it seems unpolished - and I can't stand the lighting, especially the "on-off" transition when you enter the place which is so annoying that it actually hurts game-play in my opinion. No, make that "I hate the lighting". Besides that, the game-play is pretty good. Still, were it not for the outside area, I'd call it a "gimmick-map".

In conclusion: The map is indeed good, but I think other maps were far better.

I love your maps. Granted, they all "look the same", but you do have that look down to perfection... way beyond retail quality. Great to see that your own creation also features good game-play! Congratulations on 2nd place.

No. As I stated several times in my post, it really doesn't matter what your INTENTION was if there was nothing in your post to indicate that was your intention.

As I stated before, I could make a racist remark on here and later claim I was joking. That doesn't change the fact it was a stupid thing to say, no matter what my intention was.

Considering that I was actually poking fun at myself for single-handedly killing the UT series, yeah I guess so. It's not as idiotic as getting all worked up over it though.

I WAS offended by what you said, and I don't even work for Epic. I find it offensive to say something like that about people who take great care in what they do as if it was all meaningless because you are so much better than they are and have no skills whatsoever.

It's also the real reason Epic folded on the UT series.
When the average guy beats out the industry pros, it's time to pack it in.

when I read your posts, it sounds like your saying UT3 failed, and your saying this is due Epics inability.

Then let me clarify it once more. NOT Epic's inabilty, rather BU professional elitists inability to beat the little guy. You know, the same guys who always give me a hard time for personal reasons (as evident in this thread).

I have not been able to play your winning level, sadly, because FileFront claims it's not on their servers, and FilePlanet is the impossible hassle it has always been with handling file downloads. I wish I was able to provide you with valid praise or criticism in some way. Any chance of a different download link somehow? (I've exhausted the links in your Epic forums release thread)

The only thing I can comment on at this time (and forgive me if you take this the wrong way) is that wherever you seem to post you manage to bring the fury of many. You might consider that people reacting angrily to your posts may not be fully attributed to misunderstanding what you are meaning to say, rather than what you do say. I do agree with you that reactions in this topic have been a bit extreme.

Regardless of what I say I'm flamed at BU. Rephasing my statements would be as pointless as explaining them.

Hmm, I have "the haunted" installed but neglected playing it so far. (So many other things I'm interested in). Well, after checking the moddb page again and seeing how well it did in the MSUC I should slap myself for waiting so long (currently my gaming time being sucked up by UT 1 and L4d)

Also glad to see the skaarj model is included.

Haunted rocks. so creepy especially off-line with just yourself in the map

Haunted was more fun with a friend. Might as well play horde alone, they're meant for co-op. We had some funny moments with those "Freddies". Once made a map where you had a trigger volume that spawned like 50 of them at once in some sort of over-sea catwalk layout, it was ****ing priceless.

Last I checked melee were WAY OP and the sniper was utter garbage. I'm guessing they fixed that.

SmokeRingHalo's comment brought a lot of pent up hate/negative emotions...probably without a good enough reason, but clearly wasn't sarcastic because of an emoticon, which it's often explained as "wasn't me" or "oopsie". I am not going to judge the map or it's gameplay, because that's neither what I want nor it's my job, but clearly that was an arrogant comment, SRH. It's not the words you say that hurts others, but the way you say them.

Anyway...On topic now. My personal favorites are Crucible Weapons and The Haunted and they surely deserve their places.

Is this somehow a controversial statement? Of course UT3 (primarily) failed due to Epic's 'inability'. No, it wasn't the uninspired stock maps that killed the game, but they didn't exactly help much, either.
