The E3 2004 NVIDIA booth featured a movie of the Make Something Unreal Contest entries. That movie is now available for download (50 MB Quicktime) from the Unreal Tournament official website.

Running time is just over 2 minutes and it has a lot of great footage of many of the top Unreal Tournament 2x mods. If you're looking for a mod to get into this is a great way to see all the great stuff that is out there.

The mods are great. I am glad they still have chosen to make videos for them.

Two problems I had with that video though...

1. There is no reason why that tiny little 320x240 two-minute movie needs to be 50mb. :hmm:

2. Atari's link to the download section is broken.

I was supposed to be doing this video, but they decided to handle it in-house to save money, so no credits to me please. :) Thanks.

:D

You mean phase 3? we'll see.

I did the phase 1 video in 4-5 days, which included installing, playing and reviewing all 30+ finalists, capturing the video footage (of me playing), editing, adding music and sound, overlays, voice-overs and compressing it (delivered on web, BetaSP, DVD and CD).

Can you say no sleep? And it still turned out rather well all things considered....certainly not the quality I would have preferred to put into it....but it still got great reviews on fileplanet, atari forums and here.

oh and it was high quality video, 640 x 480, 14 minutes long and only 137mb.

It is my strong recommendation that they look up somebody who knows something about compression( I would still be happy to assist), because whenever they have done it on their own, it has become a rather poor representation of not only the video itself, but of many people's hard work, not to mention a exxcessive waste of bandwidth. Hell, at this point I'll teach them for free just so I don't have to bite through my lip everytime I see it happen.

Nothing against this video otherwise. Glad to see that Epic are giving some good attention to the mods out there.

MSUC 2 ? Atlantis hasn't been released to the public yet (they're hoping to be finished for MSUC 3) ... and it's in there.
Wouldn't it be better to call it the E3-video ?
'cause that is were they've been shown to the public (and Epic) ...

Jeff Morris of Epic refers to this as the MSUC video, but I kinda agree - its more of an E3 video and many of the projects involved are unreleased or hadn't entered MSUC yet.

It's all promotional in the end anyway - the MSUC is just as much a label to help Epic promote itself as it is a contest.
