In RL, does a P90 REALLY have that much penetration??? Its shooting roughly the same caliber bullet as the M16 but with a much shorter cartridge through a much shorter barrel (from what I understand- less power). I don't get why it is so fantastically good at penetrating. Logic and numbers suggest it would in fact not be as good as the 5.56 rifle cartridge firing weapons at penetration.

P90's 5.7x28mm, 10.4 inch barrel

vs

M16A2's 5.56x45mm, 20 inch barrel

By what I'm seeing, the M16 should rock the P90's world when it comes to penetration by 2-4 times as much.

So why the heck is the P90 pretty much a railgun that shoots through walls farther then a freaking robar right now??

The supressed P90 penetration is a bug. Hopefully it will be corrected in 2.86:)

Short answer, yes it does.

Long answer, depends.

The penetration factor just varies so much on what is being penetrated, that its too hard for the team to code penetration for so many different objects, so it basically comes down to penetration in UEd units.

The 5.7mm round isn't like the 5.56mm NATO in any respect. It doesn't tumble (as far as I can recall) and it certainly doest fragment).

The 5.56mm NATO (M16A2) tumbles and fragments when it enters an object. This means that it's penetration is severly stunted. But the flesh wound more than makes up for that. Heres a picture. (not for the sqeamish)

P.S Supressing a P90 totally changes all of the aforementioned details.

Maybe the people that like the P90 so much, like it just because it got this crazy penetration.:hmm::D

I am torn. I get more kills with the MP5 (I've also had a LOT more practice with it), but I like the P90s larger ammunition capacity. Currently I have a hard time hitting anything with the P90, but I'm sure that will improve with use. Against bots I'm ok, but against 'real' peolpe I've still got a bullseye on me somewhere. How much of THAT is because I'm still getting used to 2.85.5 is another story.
