More realism: Communication

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

An idea to enhance realism:

When people are using comms like "hold up" etc. I think ennemy players must be able hear the sound of the voice, if they are not far from the talker.
If they are far maybe just hearing a small voice.

What do you think ?

A complete overhaul of the communication would not be a bad idea. How to make it a well functioning system I don't know. The speechpad sertainly was a step forward (wish it was installed on more servers).
I hope the next version of inf would come with a more advanced com. system :)

The communication binds don't represent people shouting to each other. They are all in radio contact with each other. I doubt a trained soldier would shout into his radio equipment. So, there is no reason why an enemy would hear it.

---The communication will suck in INF until we get voice comms like UT2k4 will have. Basically Teamspeak built in.

I didn't mean shouting. Maybe only close ennemy can hear it (like around a corner)

Well the soldier could just whisper into his radio then. -- Like in that scene in "Tears of the Sun" where the SEAL is hiding in the bushes and he talks to his team with the radio they have on their throats.

I can imagine in the future of fps squad based games with integrated voice comms things getting interesting...
Say you could switch between radio, whisper, say and shout for instance.
Would be *fun* to be able to shout to your enemy "Is that the best you can do" when exchancing bullets :)

Well, in a few years I guess anything is possible...atleast I hope so :)

Offtopic: have you guys seen that samurai sword for PS2 you can use with Onimusha 3 (or something similar). Wireless connection, you swing the plastic 1m sword and your character in game does the same...now that is fun :)

Heh, and you could get a program to make your voice sound really cool. lol that would be pretty fun.
