hi every1, i use milkshape to make models. i made a unfinished mod for quake 3 arena. But i want to use Unreal 2 engine because it has outdoor, better shadowing and allows models with a lot more vertex. So i have unreal 2 and i want to use some of the models from it to put in the u2 engine. In milkshape it has only 2 Unreal file import/export (.3d, .psk/.psa), but ureal meshes are .gem. so i was wondering how can i use unreal 2 models. Or i can use any model files for unreal 2 engine

Welcome fellow Milkshape modeler!
Hmm, I assume you've searched the Milkshape3D forums with little luck as well. As far as I know, there was no way to get MS3d models exported and into Unreal 2 (without maybe going through 3ds max).

However, if you happen to decide to mod for UT2k4 (although beyond late in the game's lifespan), it has all of the good features of Unreal 2's engine, plus improvements. The only thing it lacks is the use Single player codebase of U2 (although there are frameworks available). Also, Milkshape3D works just fine for exporting models into UT2kx format. All of the models in my YARM mod (both characters, weapons, vehicles, and map decorations) were made in MilkShape3D. If you need any pointers, this and the coding forums are good places to search for answers (always search before posting new threads ;))

yeah no luck on the Milkshape forums, im using 1.7.8 so i don't know if there is new exporting files. but is there way to export it into a file that Maya ple would recognize, and the export it into u2 file. I have seen on this forum that i can make models on maya ple. but i like Milkshape better i think it's better for making low poly models. so is there any way so i can export unreal 2 models from milkshape, then maya then finnaly export for unreal 2. i really don't want to make models for 2004, i mean the game its great but it's little complex for making mods i would like to try.
btw your yarm mod looks great
