MAJOR PATCH BUG! All server admins read!

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

Are there no alternatives to the Creative patch? There are different drivers for all sorts of hardware. I would imagine there are several alternatives to a messed up Creative patch. If there are no other drivers, just don't install the patch.

I wonder why people are having problems with the Creative EAX patch. I have it installed, have had for 2 years now with no problems whatsoever. I can play on JgKdo just fine.

The problem cannot be solved. The only way is, that the clients don't use the creative patch.
The question is: Can a server admin take the risk of a 4.36 server? They can be used for remote code execution and i bet there are ready made exploits out there. Together with some local bugs the attacker could get compete local access on you box.
It sounds like exspecially the GD server is situated inside of a companys network, maybe with some valuable information directly on it but atleast with the ability to scan and go on with the attack to other machines. A valuable target if you ask me.
And no, i've never hacked a computer - i just know of the problems and how the attacks work like every serveradmin should.

Well, this is a pickle for me, that is for sure. I have reviewed a number of logging files from our Firewall router and we have had a number of Spoofing (even a few last night). There have been a few days full of Spoofing. I believe the Firewall is detecting them and blocking them.

I do believe I will have to reapply the 451 patch. NTBK has read the information in the UT451 patch and I believe he understands and will comply. I hope this does not effect to many clients and the clients that are can find a correction and play on GD.

I did to test security on our systems where i work, to learn where the vulnerabilities are and for pure fun to (always on isolated machine of course... cause i would have been a damn cheep sysadmin if I where going to hack other's networks *wink*).

I agree with Cleeus that this kind of computer would be a prime target. If i wan't to attack a specific companie (to steel documents or simply to get in their intranet), after having mapped the network, this machine would probably be my first target. Game servers are always the first targets because they are BIG open doors. And very often, game servers in company networks are illicite or unofficial, thus not monitored like other servers are. They are pretty much hackers heaven.
