I bet you are going to miss some other things aswell (now that the server is ready for the tournament). Here is what I did:

- reduced max. player number to 12
- no spectators allowed (may change)
- removed all maps with transloc
- kept only those maps that suit 12 players
- mapvote is now running in majority mode
- last 5 maps played are not votable

This is going to stay that way untill the tournament is over (I may change it for the days without a match, but don't expect this to happen very often as I am a tad busy in real life atm.)

BUF may return someday in February 2004.

Instagib?

Could we make the Jailbreak mothership host a few special instagib games? I find jailbreak Instagib fun (unless you're playing against some game geek or Tamerlane). Plus, the impulse to find ammo can slow down a game when you're in a sticky situation with sod all ammo and the entire opposing force charging at you with Flak Cannons.
PS If you meet me on the Jailbreak servers, I'm not a noob. i've had UT for years, but I only recently got tiscali broadband so i could play online without a ping of 380 or more. I got booted out of the Mothership today because it was a tournament or something.
If you find me online, I'm always a Xan mark 2 called Mr_Crowley.
I might join in the sunday Lockdown or Wednesday Parole if I can.

I am afraid that most of us don't like instagib. Take your time and learn to play with the other guns. You might just enjoy the game.

If you look in this thread you can see there's a tournament going on at the moment.
Take a look at the TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE for the dates and times.
The matches will take about one hour (3 maps of 15 minutes).
You're always welcome on all other days and times.

Is there something you can add for the tournament, like a "Click when ready" option? During the match lastnight, Fraggalonia One had players that had to download the maps, being the first time with Jailbreak. Team Lockdown had full team while they had 3 just arriving, which is also how you got in Mr_Crowley, plus bots filling the gaps didnt understand "dont shoot!"

In the UT settings is an option called 'tournament' that makes it necessary for all players to 'leftclick' once before the match starts, but that'll always makes the server wait for 12 players to show they are ready before the match begins so it might be nice for the tourney matches but makes the server unusable most of the other times.

Those players participating at the tournament need to make sure that they have all maps ready before they join the battle (look at the 'required files' part over at the Lockdown Page to see what files are needed) ...

Yeah, thanks for that. I realised that Instagib is quite crap really. It's just I get so much lag etc from using a rocket launcher plus some people (most likely game geeks) never miss with any of the weapons.
But why can't there just be a separate JB3 Tourney server? It's degrading, connecting to a server and finding out you're not wanted.

Pinging the server was not possible.
Tracert 80.86.190.72 stopped at "Node D-5-pos100-0.de.lambdanet.net [217.71.105.50]".
Others used the exact same node and there it was reachable (go figure).
Still doesn't explain why Zed had the same problem.
It seems to be solved again now. Let's hope it stays that way.
