Face off is really really good - especially in the beginning (gotta love Cage as a terrorist). Gotta go with yall, Das Boot rules!

If you want Arnold you can always watch True Lies, but it sucks... except as a comedy. An Arnold movie that's actually good is End of Days... guess I like it because of the religous feel - it really is the end of days.

If you want body count watch Hotshots 2!! It has an actual body -count- in the scene where Topper Harley slaughters an entire camp of evil Iraq ppl! It also features great weapons such as the ChickenArrow of Death, the Machinegun of Unlimited Ammo, the Boxerglove Bazooka and the mouth-enlargening handgrenade! /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

..... one of the best movies ever... if you like good-evil themes with a religious touch

Con-Air: Seen it and indeed a good movie.

Erazor: Haven't seen it but I have seen enough Schwarzie movies for all my life. Erazor is one of a few I haven't seen.

Das Boot: Is this like The Hunt for Red October and Crimson Tide? If so, I'll add it to my list.

Tremors: Hmm, isn't this that movie with Kevin Bacon with that dinosaur-like creature under the sand? Is not bad but I would more call this a family movie, not action. Didn't knew there were that many weapons in it though.

Bad Boys. Yes! One of my all time favorite comic action movies. I just love this kind of humor. Already own the DVD.

Cold Blooded. Don't know this one, didn't find it in the IMDB either.

End of Days. Haven't seen it yet. I'll add it to the rent list.

Cold Blooded... its a movie with "Brandon" from Beverly Hills 90blahblah... well that should erase it automatically from each top-list... but this one is really cool.
"Brandon" plays a 'cold blooded' (and a bit dumb) killer....

Das Boot is not like a mix between the two sub movies you mentioned. It's a realistic depiction of life aboard a german U-boat during WWII. A lot of waiting for a little action BUT the atmosphere of the movie alone makes it worth to have seen. If only once.
Also there's this technosh*t song that was all the rave a few years back.

Broken Arrow - Nice aircraft. Wonder what type it was supposed to be as the cockpit was the same size as my livingroom! /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Still, quite good actionflick /infopop/emoticons\icon_wink.gif

Golden Eye - Worst darn movie I ever saw!
I mean, for crying out loud, what sane helicopter designer puts an emergency stop button that acts as an ejection button conveniently high enough so you can hit it with your head?!?!?

I bought 4 DVDs this afternoon. Face/Off, Broken Arrow, Rob Roy (I like historical movies big time) and the director's cut from Das Boot which is like 212 minutes of film. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'll let you know what I think about them. Dunno which ones I will watch first. Still have Crimson Tide, Bad Boys and Titanic lying here as well. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Being a man of many movies myself I can tell you that Titanic is a great movie if you like CGI /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
It's about the only reason I watch that one occasionally. That and Bill Paxton! hehehe

Watch Leo play cards to win his ticket to the Titanic. The guys he's playing with are TRYING to speak swedish... Considering the quality of the rest of the picture couldn't they've hired some REAL Swedes for those parts? hehehe

Well I did not bought Titanic for Di Caprio. The only part I like is the sinking of the boat. I think that has been perfectly done. On the big screen in theatres it looked so very realistic.

I'm going to watch Face/Off first, Das Boot later. I'm very curious for Face/Off since many seem to like it much more than Broken Arrow and I already found that one very good.

Ooh, I didn't find Hard Boiled in the DVD store and I visited 3 places. I think it's not out yet in Belgium, or else not very popular. But anyway, Face/Off is from Woo as well. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Still... when I read something like "and LOADS of guns in it..Calico carbine, Krinkov, M16+M203, Beretta M92F, Colt 1911, Ithaca shotty, Mp5K, Tec-9, FA-MAS...they're all there" then I wanna see this movie so badly. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Just saw Face/Off. Well I didn't like that movie at all. The whole face change idea was so unrealistic IMO. Like his own wife would not notice the difference. For example at the end when the real Travolta takes back the ring from the harpooned one, compare the hands. They have totally different hands, something a wife should notice. And then I'm not even talking about other bodyparts... /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The movie was mediocre for watching but certainly not worth buying the DVD IMO. But I know... my fault. Did the same with Ronin and I really loved that movie, one of my favorite movies of all time. But now with Face/Off I learned my lesson. I better go rent the VHS or DVD first next time. Face/Off was way too hollywood for me to be fun. Like the speedboat race... so typical Hollywood action style. I like the Heat or Ronin kind of action movie a lot more. Lesser explosions and a far more believable story.

Anyways, if you didn't like Face/Off, you prolly won't like Hard-Boiled or The Killer... The action scenes in both films are terribly unrealistic (and brilliant)...but there's just something ****ing cool about Chow Yun-Fat sliding down a bannister while emptying 36 rounds (if I remember correctly) from a pair of Colt 1911s, riddling two triad gunmen with bullets.

And the scene where CYF wipes out an entire triad army with a Ithaca shotgun and a MP5 is too cool to be believed.

Anyways, if you didn't like the way the action scenes were done in Face/Off, you won't like Hard-Boiled or The Killer (or any other John Woo movies...except for maybe Bullet in the Head, since it's atleast quasi-realistic.)

The action scenes were not that bad. The big shooting in the house was nice to watch. But the whole idea of ripping someone's face off and change it with another one.. I didn't like that. I find the Mission Impossible (TV series) way of using other people's faces a lot more believable. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I watched Broken Arrow two days ago. That's a very good one IMO but more as an adventure/action movie. Travolta's acting in there is very good. "Would you mind not shooting at the thermo nucleair weapons!" or that scene at the very end where Slater mentions something about Travolta beeing the bad guy: "Yeah, ain't it cool?"

Started seeing Das Boot yesterday. Very good movie indeed. But this is the director's cut edition and it's 212 minutes in total. Since I was a bit tired I stopped after they got to Spain. The crossing of Gibraltar and the end is for tonight. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I also own Crimson Tide on DVD. Gonna watch that one tonight as well. I'll let you know which one I liked better.

Don't really know what an Ohio-class SSBN looks like on the inside but what the movie made me think of was NCC-1701 A-Z Enterprise of Star Trek fame.

Well they both are quite different. Crimson Tide is in a much newer sub but I don't like the way the story is told so much. It seems very predictable. It's like the director said: "OK, what do we want in it? We go to crucial depth once, and we blow up another sub once." Das boot on the contrary is a lot lesser predictable but since the movie is from 1981 the image quality is a little lesser. But for a 20 year old movie it still looks good. Crimson Tide is a typical Hollywood movie (sorry for using the term over and over again) while Das Boot is more about the life on board the sub.

I liked Das Boot a little more but me thinks The Hunt For Red October is my fav. sub movie.

But you're right, the best part of the movie (Das Boot) is the crossing of the Street of Gibraltar until the end.

I'll go and rent Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Ficton prolly after a few weeks. Also LÃ©on and LA Confidential are on my list of "must-rent".

As for DVD, I bought First Knight yesterday. I enjoy historical movies a lot. Can't wait to get my hands on Braveheart and The Messenger (Joan of Arc here in Europe).

What I found scary is the question of the protocols guarding the release of nuclear weapons. If I understand it correctly Crimson Tide is LOOSELY based on a real event. Could be a rumour, I don't know...
You're right the movie is very Hollywoodish /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif but it has a good point in questioning the above. The captain of a nuclear submarine is about the most powerful man on earth.

Also Hollywoodish but still a good movie to watch every now and then. I have the game for my C-64 as well as Red Storm Rising.
RSR, now THERE'S a book that should be filmed methinks /infopop/emoticons\icon_wink.gif Would make a great warmovie if they could pull it off.
Then again, just about any of Tom Clancy's books would make great movies if done correctly.

Finally, Das Boot - The ending
Talk about irony! They make it all the way back from the bottom of Gibraltar to their port in France and just when they're about to leave the sub it gets bombed into oblivion!
Man...They deserved to live! At least a few of them survived. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
