I was under the impression that 'Introversion' used the 'Source' engine for 'Darwinia'.
What did they use then? An in-house engine?
I knew 'Steam' was a distrobution tool to cut out the publishers - but I thought it was only for people that used the engines 'VALVe' supplied.

That game is a blast. Excellent art direction. I bought it last night and have been playing it whenever I have free time. Brings me me back to the 'olden days' of gaming...
...where, you know - games were fun.
As far as 'RO' is concerned. Yes, I know all about how they won the contest, and can make a retail game with the engine, etc. etc.
The fact of the matter is: They are still working with the 'Warfare' engine, not 'Warfare 2.5'. So, 'Fog2K4' at it's best. Granted, they can optimize it more than a mod. However, it lacks many of the (much needed) capabilities provided through the 'Warfare 2.5' upgrade.
That 'Make Something Unreal' contest was simply Epic's way of clearing out their closet of a mediocre engine. Had they given away a license to 'Unreal Engine 3.0', that would've been more interesting.
On a side note, I can't wait for 'Alien Swarm'.
