Looking at those screenshots of those superb maps , i begin to wonder

I see several big open space , a very lot of objects , details.
But how are those maps running in UT2004 ?

smoothly or 1 frame per seconds ?

EDIT : nevermind , i just saw my answer

Some guys are walking around it. They suggest to turn off weather effects. Still unplayable but atleast you can walk around and enjoy.

I just hope you guys know that AH does not plan distributing his maps to any mod team atm. Many forums have also determined that his ut2k4 maps aren't for gameplay but purely beauty. Believe me when I say that I have tried his maps for ut2k4 (ranging from 10-50 MB), and that if you can hardly run INF at 1280x1024, forget about playing his maps.

Both AH and the other map run very reasonable on my athlon2400+ (2ghz) and 9800pro 128mb. And i have AAx4 and AFx4.

Let me tell you that these two maps don't run worse than some UT inf maps. Don't forget that ut2k4 engine handles these complex maps way better than ut99 can.

Yes most of us here understand that. AH maps actually run not bad on my system. They are good examples though of what can be done. As stated though these guys use Unreal as a canvas. The thing to remember though is that the maps are not optimize yet. I would like to know is how much better they would run when optimized.

When AH released innercity it was unplayable on most systems. Now it runs on every decent system outthere. You just have to wait a couple of years, that's all :D .

Yes and that dm-Blackhawk, he made that with only one brush and the rest is all static meshes ( or something like that ), he explains in the readme. So the map is higly optimized and it feels like that when i run around in it.

Good engine, Sentry switch please, i will give blood.

Beatiful maps indeed.

What I still wonder: Is UT2004 able to support non-static vegetation (if I'm not mistaking this requires dynamic meshes which UT04 doesn't support).

I think that's what really adds to gameplay and gives a real meaning to camos, sneaking & hiding and takes the atmosphere of great maps like swamprat or Pankisis to a whole new level...

Don't get me wrong UT04 is way beyond the current engine but its not urban scenarios where its lagging the most
