AIDS: Astronomic Informational Data Syndrome

My slave drive started to go bad from constant whipping and beating and I needed to save lots of data unrelated to Pr0n. Yeah, that was it. My primary drive is a 250 SATA which I thought was pretty big, but then I found out I could get a 1.5 terabyte SATA drive for 120 bucks. So now I have 1.75 terabytes of storage.

I started downloading the internet last night and my calculations suggest that I’ll be done this time next week.

Seriously, though, my old slave was an 80 GB ATA, so this new drive has about as much storage capacity as 18 or 19 of those old drives. When I moved my files over, it took up about 4% on the new drive. LOL! That’s less than 88%.

But what does this mean for me and the people on my block, you may be asking yourself if you were an inquiring person. It means that I can install games back on my PC and whip up on my neighbors. There’s this game called Unreal, or Unsightly or something like that that I used to play all the time. Chicks dig large hard drives.

Yep. I made a mad dash to the liquor store at 9:34 and had two brewskis, a Tilburg's Dutch Ale and a Dark Horse Sapient Trip Ale. It'd been 13 days since I'd drank last, basically because drinking beer makes it difficult to stay in shape.

After installing UT, I decided to grab some of my old maps from NC for nostalgic reasons. I googled nail city and hit the main page and don’t see a way to get to the old maps. Is there a way?

My maps are on backup disks, so I can get them there, but it would be easier to just download them instead of searching through a bunch of CDs and DVDs.

Really?! I bet when QA Pete started the site he focused on having a site with maps and reviews, and the forums was some secondary thing. That means the site has morphed just like the threads morph. Kinda ironic when you think about it.

DM-TheReal is a borderline “gimmick” map with its Quake III symbols, mono-colored lighting, and jumps galore. It’s designed for 2-6.

The map has a z-axis, arena layout to it…where you use jump pads to fly from the lower level to the top. The map is a little dark if you’re playing with daylight around your monitor, so make adjustments as needed. I had trouble hopping over to get the rocket launcher, but I know you can get to it because the bots can. I assume translocators are in order. I usually found myself running around screaming on the lower floor with a minigun. There is not a lot of room to move around, but this kind of action can be fun as well.

Some custom textures came with the zip, keeping the looks of the place unique in some areas. A HOM effect appears in a centralized cutout of a Quake emblem, while a dynamic wall texture cycles from the Quake emblem to a skull. Red dominates this industrial theme creation. Torches were used, but they seem out of place considering the modern look of the place.

The bad guys and girls do okay, even with the jump pads. They seem to know where everything is, but fight with enforcers and miniguns much of the time, as I did. There isn’t much health, so be good or be prepared to spawn.

The lighting is red, red, and more red. ‘Bout it! It gives the place a surreal look. No music…few sounds.

I actually dl'd that last night and also looked to torrent UT but couldn't find a working copy (I know, I'm so woe). It'd be fun to play all this stuff together, if we could actually arrange it.
