I guess immaturity isn't confied to the board I moderater. ; P
Really, they said the Unreal "patch" that would make Direct3D work better without 96 megs of ram would come out as soon as they had perfected it. They HOPED that it would be out with UT.
The new patch for UT just came out (402). I haven't installed it yet, but supposedly, this is supposed to fix up D3D performance. Once they get that right, then the Unreal patch should be out.
Really, you should be glad they are even patching Unreal one more time, as it's nearly two years old, and no longer their cash cow. Companies should have their games playable out of the box at least. Patches are fine, they are often necessary because no software is ever bug free, and they have to make their market windows or they lose tons of money, etc. It takes alot to develope a game, yadda yadda yadda. If the game was so bad, you shouldn't have encouraged them by buying it in the first place (or you could have returned it, etc).
As to Q3A, well you still have to have a better system to even load it up than UT, so why is anyone complaining? I haven't had a chance to play Q3A full version yet, since I just recently got 64 megs of ram for my system. UT ran fine before, I just had to turn down the textures detail. Now I can play it with high detail and it runs great.
