I am looking forward to the MK23 myself. As most folks tend to veiw it as a side arm, a silenced mk23 makes a VERY good primary, in my opinion. Of course I also have one berretta only loadout setup that tends to work very well for tight maps.
At any rate no offense Mr scetch but according to the seals themselves
http://www.navyseals.com/equip/armory.html The colt 45 is still one of their favorites. (also the do use the sig you are right about that, and about the fact they are phasing the 1911A1 out in favor of the sig, but the mk23 is quickly gaining ground in testing arenas. Mainly becuase while a 9mm is fine (boy is this gonna start flames again) BUT even according to the seals it does not have the punch of the 45 round.) They are not phasing the mk23 out, but IN as a replacement for the 1911A1, and are phasing the H&K P9S in as a possible replacement for the Sig (although I don't think it will ever totally phase a quality piece like the sig out) As for being too damned big in the field, we are not talking about beanpoles here we are talking about seals, their physical training alone is enough to kill most folks.
The mk23 is being looked to as a replacement for because
A - it has a 12 round clip of 45 auto
B- it is designed to use hollow points unlike the 1911A1 which is best with ball.
C - it comes readily silenced from H&K no mods needed.
D - the field coating on it make it nearly impervious to corosion.
I don't personnally think it WILL replace both, but I think it along with the Sig and the H&K P9S will been seen alot more often on the seal loadouts. (As much as I hate to see the 1911A1 go and as much as I love it, for practical purposes with what they are doing the mk23 is better than the 1911A1)
