personally i think this sidearm is the best pistol ever made, along with the M1911 of course! and so i am really looking forward having it in INF. now my question: Will this weapon be in the next release of INF?

As much as I want to see the SOCOM, the thing is that we don't need another pistol right away. The majority of players use them as sidearms, and as such a primary weapon should be of more importance now that we have 3 pistols in the game.

Since we're getting the FAMAS G2 (/me drools) in 2.86, I'd have to say either the Remington 870 shotty, or another SMG (either the MP5K PDW or Mini Uzi) would make the most sense.

OK then...

...you should choose the MP5K. i would like to see a weapon used by the SAS.

I think having handguns are a integral part of ones loadout. Even more so once the bulk system is really refined. That is because we will not really be able to carry a second primary gun and still have a good stamina level. Having a variety of handguns to choose from is very important as some primary guns would and do work better with certain guns. For example, this has been mentioned, a silence MP5, P90 or some future release would be a great combo with the SOCOM as it would give you a completly silent loadout. A nice addition to that would be a knife and flashbang or two.
In conclusion I would have to say that a release of a handgun is not so trivial. I say this even with about half of the people saying the 5-7 does not really affect their current loadouts containing a handgun right now (i.e they will not use it and will go with the M9 or DE). But once more primary guns are released and most of the handguns are out and the bulksystem refined you will see people taking more specialized loadout (on top of people taking jack-of-all-trades ones, which are needed).

Fred DM: The SAS use the MP5KA1, not the PDW. And it's generally used for ununiformed and bodyguard work.

Otherwise you'll find them with their MP5A3s. The SAS use the MP5A3 almost exclusively for CT work. Mainly because it handles better than most any other weapon with the stock retracted(The SAS train in this method because they employ respirator masks during CRW ops that to not endear the use of guns with stocks).

MK 23 is hardly the best pistol ever made. It's a great pistol that for a fact, but it's too damn big. While great for range shooting, it's not very handy in the field. that's why most SEALs has switched over to Sig P226 9mm instead of the issuled socom.

I'll second that, sketch. MK32, BIIIIG! Sig 226, GOOOOOD! One of the best features of the old 1911 is its very slim grip. Doublestacks may be okay in 9mm, but the .45 is too fat to lay sidebyside in the handle. Plus, the whole point of a bigger bullet is not needing so many.

The SOCOM could have had a nice, slim 8-round mag with extended 10 or 12 rounders.

Uh.. anybody want to mention a machine gun? Inf really needs a squad support weapon because out of all the other categories of weapons, there isn't a single machine gun. You got pistols, you got rifles, you got 'nades, you got a somewhat centered scattergun.. but where's my belt-fed sustained rate of fire??

I think with the current ballistics being what they are and the complete lack of differentiation between aiming difficulty between a handgun and an M16 (for example), a machine gun isn't necessary. You can get yer 'suppresing fire' thrills from the P90; not like anyone would want suppressing fire anyway.

With the current gameplay somewhat failing to enforce teamplay, I doubt that it's really necessary. If you got out there with something heavy like that you'll get pronekilled or naded right away.

I think SF with its horrid unrealistic ballistics, improbable damage model and horribly slow running (well, more like arthritic jogging) actually promotes better teamplay than INF does right now, simply because you're so slow walking over a more open area that you WANT cover, dammit :) And it's so hard to hit someone that you NEED backup to take the other guy down faster than he can take you down.

I think INF is more of a twitch-fest right now...who can prone faster, nade faster or squeeze the trigger faster. A team will get naded more often than they suppress someone, 'cuz how do you suppress someone that runs faster than your team, runs around you completely and takes out your entire team (which is carefully trying to advance) from behind.

As such, another pistol would be good, esp. silenced so they don't even know what's going on :)

I completely agree.
I am killing most of the poeple from behind.
Yesterday there were 3 or 4 situations, where I killed one guy and suddenly 2 other enemys turned around (I did not see them at first)... not nice. :)
If I had a supressed handgun they maybe would not have heard me killing their team mate.
