you must have a team behind you to i guess
Thats true. I most people who played with me gets smart and tries to flank me rather than fighting me from afar. Having another team mate behind me is good.

There's not much else for it when the lag is getting you down than spraying bullets around and making everyone else lag as well
Does the M249 really lag everyone?

yes its very important to move and find a good positions. You have to out smart your enemy. Hit him first before he gets the chance. But the M249 is limited to its weight, hard to aim while jogging ( i have gotten used to firing the M249 without the sights ) and long ass realoading time. So its a challange. :)

I still don't like the 249 much. It has no penetration and the recoil is almost uncontrolable. Im hoping the game will get an M240 or an HK21E. Even an old M60E would be cool.

Any military people here who have ever fired a real one? And if so, does it really kick you all around the place that much? I think the weapons recoil and jitter have been overdone. Also, the cone movement has been way over done. Watch the sights while not moving, they move in big circles, so the gun is hardly ever on target.

For a light machine gun, I now use the G3A3. It only has 20 rounds, but it penetrates light material and doesn't kick you all over the place. And a lot of times, 20 rounds is enough to do the job.

Yes, I've fired real 249's (And the FN Minimi, which IS diffrent) and they DO NOT kick like in game. They vibrate. No clmb, no twisting, just a lot of shaking.

As far as a real GPMG in game, the following list.

1- PKM. Anyone who has handled, and fired one will agree. THE finest GPMG currently in wide distribution.

2- MG3/MG51. The MG 42 by another name, and in 7.62 NATO. Heavy, and not as plesant as the PKM, but still VERY effective.

3- M 240/FN MAG/GPMG. Great gun. Heavy as f**k. Wonderful for sustained fire.

4- M-60/"The Pig". In it's current incarnation, a damn good GPMG, but having to overcome a very tarnished reputation.

There are more, the tiny CETME Ameli for one, and the beautifully made Japanese Type 64, but I have only looked and handled them. No experience shooting em.

Well, SOME gunshops. I recently walked a new owner through the basics with a NEW (As in UNFIRED) M240, (thing was still in the wrapper) and then dug out my old GAU2 manuals for the M-134 he'd bought. Yes. A Minigun in civillian hands. I understand it farts nicely.

In the U.S. it depends a LOT on what state you live in, followed by who you know, and what you know.

What are the exact requirements for evil foreigners who want to shoot firearms in Arizona and other states? I ask because I've heard everything from "If you know a gun store or someone who legally owns a firearm and can get to a range, no worries" to "Anything more dangerous than a water pistol in Arizona for foreigners is forbidden because potential torerrists might train over here".

OCIW- Unless you're a convicted felon, and a minor, no restrictions. You just have to observe the state's laws regarding where you can carry, and where you can shoot (like no shooting across roads, within 1/4 mile of an occupied structure unless at a designated range, etc..)

Ya but i live in Canada, we have strict gun laws here so i cant even fire a pistol :(

Technically you can get a pistol, only it's not so easy as it used to be. For "auto/burst rifles" and most millspec weapons, forget about it... :(

I'm still looking at the possibility to by a rifle start shooting again, but the chances I walk out of a store with an m249 are just nonexistant. But I still may have the change to get to fire the C9 once again one of these says... I'll have to give a call to the armorer at CFB Valcartier; I have his phone number in my wallet since juin or something like that.

So, it would be nice if someone would "unbalance" the M249 in game so it fires as in real life (and get rid of the crazy rolling sights as well). Also a PKM, M240, H21E, etc in the game. I don't know why everyone is so afraid of moderate support weapons in the game. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing RPG's and vehicle mounted Mark 19 grenade launchers in the game.

And then port it all to HL2. :)

crowse i love you :p

it would be cool to have a minimi without the CAN so the ammo would be hanging out in the air while your firing like baracuda haha
