The tittle says it all. You guys probly know me ingame as "Poi". I go around with a M249 - 200 belt feed or 30 round STANAG MAGS. I love to take the role of supporting gunner. I built a few strategies while working with the M249, and i have come to love the M249 in INF. But sometimes i feel like the M249 is missing a few things, the most ovious one is the Bipod. It would be cool to see the M249 bipoded in a window to keep down the recoil and have a better aim. Anyways, i like INF. I just recently played online last month or so im still new, but i know some of the players in the inf server and the maps. I used to play with my old 56k so i was forced to play with bots. But the lack of interaction within the player was low. So u end up getting board. Once i jumped into DSL, i headed to the servers and got killed alot. Not untill i grabed the M249 then i started pilling down people 2 - 3 people per round. Im a very aggresive player, but i usually play along with other players for teamwork. I cover his back he covers mine. Bots and players are very differnt inded, for once i can hide in the shadows and not get spoted or not get hit that often when running on the open. People in INF are prety nice, alot of experienced players here very supportive also. INF is a very nice game, its a good break from unrealistic games. I play Firearms Mod which is like a brother of this mod.

Thanks to the INF Community for beig so helpfull over my nub multiplayer starts :D
Little tip if you face me, hide! I will spam you with alot of bullets ;)

'lo Poi! Your online skills are quite amazing for a newbie! There are times when I go in pairs to hunt in maps, but usually in such a stupid manner that we both get perforated. You're a good team player, especially with that Minimi.

Well i play Full Spectrum Warrior so i think i know what im doing lol. I like to work as a team and yes Taque i camp but i think the right term is "Defence". If im forced to defend a certain spot, chocke point or ambush ally, i will camp. If you know the M249 you will know the tricks and trades on how to use it properly.

I feel there is no camping in INF (EAS/DTAS) but "camping" can be an issue in TDM if you are the last player. Not 100% up on what the TDM'er think about "camping".

Technicaly, my loadout is very heavy. The M249 weights alot plus 2-3 boxes of ammo and body armor. So i am not very mobile and i cant run around that much, i am very vurnable at that situation. I do have an assault cofig for my M249 that weights less but i still find my self waiting and ambushing in hot spots and chocke points.

I agree with Odie. Unless the TDM map has a point that everyone is obviously trying to assault, or the map is small enough, you shouldn't be camping, you should be laying claymores. On EAS/DTAS where defense is a part of your mission, use it.

The 249's not bad, but it kicks too much for my taste. Too dam light. I'm waiting for someone to model the HK21E for some heavier support fire. That or model the 50 round drum for the G3.

The minimi is all about prone, dude - once you're in a good position, you can let the brass fly. As for camping, I never said that in my post - I just said I nade the piss outta you guys. :p

Prone with an M249 is very accurate. But some maps, i cant really prone well. So i've gotten used to the kick of the M249 while standing. Very easy, i use a 7 - 15 burst round at low ROF. Spray it at ur target and reaim after each burst. But when ur proned, you cant move that much, you have a limited FOV cuz ur only facing one to two side. I just prone for defensive maps, usually its boring to prone and wait lol.

its really cool that theire is another M249 fan outheire
not many people use it because it was "Balanced" to much

M249 is more usable in EAS or DTAS than TDM

You shoot where you think the enemy will be. But there's more to it then that, there's a lot of positioning and knowing when to move - well, there is for all weapons in inf, but it's more important since you can't aim while jogging. Also, choosing the right time to reload it.

There's not much else for it when the lag is getting you down than spraying bullets around and making everyone else lag as well ;).

EDIT: BTW welcome Poi :).

I rock at support but I never get on when the servers warrant it. I end up having to play rifleman which is fine by me. I love to be the guy in the back laying supressing fire and watching the battle unfold. Catching guys sneaking up behind teamates and what not. It's a good feelign saving someones ass ;)

As crowze said, the key is movement and positioning. Understanding the recoil to have better management of it is also crutial.

You really need to get in a specific state of mind to use this weapon. Concentration and situation awareness is a must since you have many limiations normal assault weapons do not impose.
