GTA mod

Well, that's kind of what I said...?

I've got a geforce2 mx and it runs 2004 at satisfactory levels so I've always had a good impression of the engine. San andreas on the other hand had to have all the detail levels at the lowest settings for me to be able to play it. You could worry about the lower end pc people for any given mod, but if we did, we simply wouldn't have some of the great mods we have today.

If I were you guys, I'd check the copyrights to make sure you wouldn't be breaking the law by re-making GTA for the UnrealEngine.

A total remake is not a good idea, but making a mod with GTA-like gameplay would be interesting IMO.
But how should the whole thing be handled? When you want it exactly like GTA (with your improvements) than it sounds like very much work, I`m not completely sure if it`s worth the effort

Yeah, the whole "we can do it as long as we don't make any money" thing should have died by now, it's only slightly above mod pitch posts that don't outline a clear plan... :p

I've heard many Modleaders telling me how dissappointed they were because they couldn't even use music from a certain game.
They contaced the ex-gamedevelopers and explaned the situation with the fact it would be a non-profit mod, but no dice.

Unreal Theft Auto 2004(Temporary name till i come up with good name)
Features
  • Real-life cars unlike GTA games
  • Realistic car handling(not sure)
  • Multiplayer with more than 2 teams like multiple gangs
  • Multiplayer gametypes like Gangwars, Capture the Hoe:lol: and more...
  • Real-life guns
  • Dual wields with 2 different guns shoot each on by its self
  • Big arsenal of weapons
  • Big levels (not as big as san andreas toolong to load lol)
  • More features to come

Good. Now we(teh community) know what is needed.
Questions and comments:

Define"Realistic"?
How would the Dual wields work? Are we talking like normal, you can hold 2 of the same gun, or custom, like holding 2 different guns?
Better AI would take someone smarter than StevePolge to write...that may not be possible without a proffesional. (But it's certainly worth a try!)
Realistic car handling is the same as above...except for one thing. You can't edit the physics code for vehiclces. It's compiled into the DLLs.

Sounds like a fun idea though! ;)

you can still tweak the physics variables for any custom vehicle classes you make though ;)

.... you just can't improve the actual code...and i'm sad to say that it has a rather....BOUNCY...nature :/
