One does not need a clan to enjoy the bennies of teamwork. Most of the time that I am on, no one from AFA is on, so I just hook up with another INF bud and tag along for the ride and back him up. Of course, most of these guys usually belong to another clan (SK or GHOST, etc.) but they don't seem to mind the extra back up. Hell, they don't seem to mind telling me to walk point! Most clans have their own form of rank structure, and I think it would just cause some more bumps in the already too loose teamplay aspect of INF.

I believe everyone should belong to a clan. This game, as far as I know, is not meant for the lone wolf approach.

most clans keep track of who is good, and who is not.
They also have leaders and followers.

But, clans also know who the people are, and how they play. Theres no way im gonna be subordinate to a guy who got where he is thru instaproning, invisible leaning, and nade spamming.

a squad operates thru familarity.

I am curious as to why there is so much agonizing over how "good" a player is- if the same amount of effort was put into helping "poor" players turn into "good" ones, there would be double the number of players online- for INF and every other game.

It's not like you are playing for money, or a gold cup, or even a certificate to stick on your wall. It won't get you a better job, or a beautiful woman's attention, or anthing else, so why sweat it so much?

People will jump in and claim learning to play as a team does help make "good" players- agreed, but I get the feeling you have to be of a certain level of ability to even be considered as part of the team.

I am a poor player, probably one of the worst ever- I was rejected by six clans because I was not experienced enough. I finally got on one, because, well I don't really know why, other than the fact I was willing to try and willing to learn, I guess.

Competition is good- it is part of what makes our society work, so a certain amount of it benefits in that it teaches people how to interact with the world they live in- but people need to keep their perspective also...my less than two bits.

I'll tell you a story about how and why NONE of these plans will work except in a clan. And why Team Fortress 2 (although it sounds SOO great) won't work as great as it sounds. Because of ******* cheaters, people who think this is just deathmatch with new weapons, tk's, and people who just run around and do retarded things (in CS half the time people would be knifing team mates even when ff wasn't on). That's why teamwork only works in clans. Although there is what I like to call divided team work. Where 3-9 guys will be working as a team. The rest of the people in the server will just RUN like crazy. This doesn't mean I don't like INF, TO, SF, or CS. Or TF2 whenever it comes out/hell freezes over.

PS: On a barely related note shoot burst-fire. It's the way to go if you don't want to miss like hell.

my response to Reactor

Basing scoring on team victory is a great idea, but it may be the only redeeming factor of this whole scheme. Yurch speaks for the whole non-clan community(and most of the clan members too) when he says:
"I don't like to be told what to do"

Reactor, when you say we use Inf to escape our own hellish lives you are completely correct. Because some of us use Inf to break away from being pushed around in the real world, we certainly wouldn't want to be pushed around when we play Inf. Having a chain of command is important when the play is organized, as in clan matches, but clans use their own informal system to determine heirarchy(one of the reasons I don't wish to join a clan). To wrap up: the un-affiliated player doesn't need your system at this stage of Inf's development, and clans will never need your system, so what's the point of implementing it?
