game freezes during install

I'm trying to install this game (UT3) on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit edition and it keeps freezing during the install process. I have the RC edition of 7, version 7100.

It freezes during the part when it's extracting the files onto my hard drive. I have no idea why this is occurring, as I have never had a similar problem before. Basically, my whole system locks up and I have to press the power button on my tower to reset the system. Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

Motherboard: MSI NF750
CPU: Phenom II x4 955
GPU: MSI GTX 260
Sound card: Auzentech X-Meridian
PSU: PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750w

Do you have enough free space?
Remember you also need a bit of free space on your system partition even if you install the game somewhere else.

If that's not the case I'm stumped. I don't know about Windows 7 but in XP the "Windows Installer" could get broken on rare occasions. Either it was damaged and had to be redownloaded/updated or it failed to start because the necessary service was deactivated. Maybe something similar can occur on Windows 7. I have no idea how you would fix it though because, as I said, I don't have Windows 7. But maybe it points you in a direction.

EDIT: Just thought about something else: If you can't get it to work but you know you have enough free space you could register it on Steam (it's free. You just have to type in your product key) and let steam download and install it for you. You won't need to deal with the installer then.

I'm beginning to think that this is a hardware issue. Like, either my CPU or RAM is bad. Prime95 locks up with the first second of the test. Plus, other random crashes. Just wish I could narrow it down. I'm leaning towards bad RAM.

You could always install via Steam. It should be enough to get you up and playing and there's nothing to stop you installing from disc at a later time if this issue gets resolved.

OH... It installed last night. I don't know why or what I did, but it won't run. I think I have bad RAM or a bad CPU or something. Or it could be because I'm running win7 beta.
