Thanks Aaron .. I coulda swore you had a 1 second invulnerability, but didn't want to say because I didn't know for sure.

You can also choose the point on the pad that you spawn onto. You will always drop down basically where your view has swung around to, though sometimes I've dropped in on the other side of the 'spawn stem', but facing the same direction. Most often a gunner will only put down two mines and you can easily spawn between them just by moving your view into position.

To elaborate a little on #3, at least in regards to the hacked doors of the stronghold generator on.. um... that map in a rocky terrain set with a ridge running across the middle (as it is the only one I have tested this on significantly), a nasty little trick with laser tripmines, mines, and hacked doors is that if you lay a laser tripmine on the wall -in- a door (on the wall closest to the panel) and let the door close over it, it will make the mine invisible until the door is opened. This gets more interesting considering that most people stand close enough to a door when hacking it to open it. On top of that, they usually press up against the door in an effort to get in as fast as possible. So, toss a mine in and let the door close on that as well, and you have a laser tripmine plus the additional force of a detonated mine as soon as an oposing team opens the door. I've knocked out 3 players huddled at a door at a time with this trick. Have fun. (-;

Note: It seems if you place the mine second, the laser tripmine will be set off, so start with a normal mine, then add the laser one.

regarding mines in the other direction some times ya get your own team with them is ok when u using ts to talk to clan members saying dont come in through X door but in general on publics mins are a pest along with guys that run round setting hundreds of bloody turets and laser force walls
all they care about is because turrets one of last things t to go off (I can get most points from kills)
not about team mates trying to reg arti and is same with mins :-( sadly unless in offical war so my words are ,

If ya knwo how your team playing and what they up too then yay kick ass witht he mines, but if ya dont then dont

Note, since you have 1 second invulnerability after spawning in, decorating a spawn point with mines is generally wasted. It's only useful for keeping the other team from coming up and hacking your deploy point back... but then they'll blow up when your own teammates spawn in.

That said, wait until you see Scott's new map in the upcoming CBP release. Long grass around icon node == mine haven. :)

No I know there is a time limit. Thats why you put the mines on the edge of the circle, not by the poll in the middle. Allot of people don't pay attentio to thier prespawn set up, and take time to get oriented, spawn mining counts on this. In truth there is no reason not to mine team owned spawns, your team can't take them, and if it doesn't work and they do no damage they stop consuming energy. Even if they live it buys some time before they can engage actively.

Classic example, sunset beach your team has basement and is going out with arti through it.

Mine thier node by basement and wait. either they spawn bad have to orientate themsleves and hit mines for damage, or they just hit in spawn protection and get boucned, giving you time to kill them.

OHHH, here's a fun one grab an arti and run in an enclosed base, works best going out the cave route on Sunset Beach. If you know you have someone chasing you but you can't see them, start dropping mines behind you. I love fragging ppl that way. It's a good way to get a quality player off your tail. :D
