I just spent an evening with my son, (who is a member in good standing of the INF crowd) We would trade off every other match, he was awesome. I was, well, shall we say "new"- finishing ne round with a minus 2 score. My son heard all sorts of colorful words from me especially when I plugged my team-mates in the back of the head, or coming around a corner, or crossing the plane of my sniper rifle, or too many other ways.
I'm sure everyone has been through it. and felt the pangs of guilt at sending another fellow team-mate off to the "netherworld" for the round. Here in this post, I would like to extend the olive branch of absolution, knowing full well that although we commit these acts mistakenly, the horrors of guilt often lead to the requirement of professional therapy.
Much like the 12 steps of various anonymous programs, we need to admit we have a problem and then drink lots of coffee. After admiting we have a problem, we need the advice of more senior members of the community who have "Been there- done that" If this thread touches just one persons life and leads them down the road to a friendly-fireless life, I will have accomplished much. The life you save may in turn save yours.
Remember: don't say you'll never shoot a team-mate again, just live by the rule "one shot at a time"

I remember you

Kudo's to the Family that dies to together, stays together. Target ID is one of the most overlooked aspects in INF. I cant tell you how many times I have paused to "verify my target" only to be ventilated numerous times by a fellow teamate who failed to do the same. One thing that I would improve within the engine is more points taken for FF. In real life if you kill one of your own the consequences are much more severe (not just a cusing out or freindly thats ok) I feel there are a lot of players out there that have the attitude of "kill them all and let GOD sort them out" This may work in a game, but in reality you would be breaking big rocks into small ones in a Military Prison. If you work in teams like the game was designed, enemy and friendly targets should be easly identifiable. No man is a ISLAND!!!:p

Well FF is not just about checking your targets, or keeping track of where your mates are... there is also the element of mates moving directly into your fire. I find that most of my FF kills and times I'm FFed is when I or they have not respected line of fire.

Don't anywhere near in front of a friendly sniper. They can't see you, and if you move even slightly you could end up filling their scope when the pull the trigger! Grenades are another common means of FFs. Grenades don't distinguish between the entrenched enemies and the foolhardy, blood-thirsty mates who charge headlong into the enemy ranks.

FF is a fact of life, especially in the pubs where poor general communication is bigger problem. Clans usually have comm programs that let them work together better and avoid these scenarios... even there however a TK is still a harsh reality.

Shaking off a TK is the only healthy response to an accidental frag, especially if your actions and movements are partly to blame.

if someone tk's me

and they apologize I don't have any problem at all...if they do it again I remind them to be more careful...

If someone tk's me and doesn't apologize I nicely point out to them that they just tked me.....if they don't apologize after that I can only assume that they did it on purpose and if they do it again without an apology I will pop them the next chance I get...it may seem trite but a quick sorry does wonders

If you apologize to someone and they are still pissed off...they are a prick

thats my tk ettiquite

Good luck with the family war...stick with it and you will get better quick....

that is unless I am to blaim....then I'll quickly say it's my fault don't worry about it

TKs become rarer

I am so hooked on this game. I still kap the occasional teammate, but everything is strting to click, my tactics are getting more effective and I am getting comfortable with moving along different axis' I've found much like the "Real-Toon" that my TK rate goes up depending on the BDU colors, if they are too similar you might want to stay away from me for a few rounds. I will always apologize but I still hate it when I do that.
Speaking of wholesome family fare, My son was asked to join a clan, I'm a proud pappa! I'll take a couple of months to really hone my skills then I'll show him!

I just started playing INF again online and have gotten my fair share of accidental TKs. It makes me feel bad when I do it, and I always apologize. Some people really take it to heart though, and it pisses me off when I apologize and still get a response like "nice TK you dumbass". I guess some people take the game a little too seriously. If someone TKs me I'm never really angry, I know the next round is going to start in a couple of minutes anyway.

As somewhat of a "experienced n00b" I ask that people don't take TKs seriously and don't get angry if it happens to you. I can guarantee that 90% of the time it is accidental and the person feels bad about it. A lot of the times it is hard to differentiate between the camos and the Name ID is not perfect. Other times a teammate will run in front of you and you accidentally shoot him because you panic. It's just something you need to learn, and I think it adds a neat psychological factor to the game.

Anyway, go easy on the accidental FF, it doesn't improve the situation to be an angry prick over it.

OK over the last few months I came from newbie to a now more exireanced Newbie...
Im still FF'ing and somtimes even the Odd TK... yes everyone of these has been acidentle...

I still have problems with Cuban Dawn as with so many Im sure

The main cause of this problem is me playing at late at night, and the fact that Iam being forced to play on the lowest detail settings i can as I always rate a 500 ping or there abouts...

even still it is hard to keep contact with where your team is, as theres no real way of doing this unless you stop to type where you are to your team mates and the lack of Identifying location sectors on most maps if any have been made... I was on one map and It just said Outside.. and it was an outdoor map...
There also happen the occasional person that moves into my covering fire of circles the enemy and ends up comming from the enemys position with all guns blazing at the team

with this said I do always appologize and realy dont mind when It happens to me, as usually I might have them in might sights at the same time, and its just as case of them being faster on the trigger... smiles

friendly fire is sometimes funny.
most of the time i see a teamate , look at him he looks at me, i start walking and am shot in the back.
i just love this.

i also noticed that the tking increase exponentialy when you carry the knife. when theren't any enemy in sight.
i don't know.. maybe the knife s sight makes people nervous :)
im not mentioning when i chase someone with the knife. thats normal . people sees an enemy and shooot.

i have been killed so many times by enemies becasue i shoot when im sure of my target , add this ive got a 56 k :)

Yeah, I had a funny one just the other week. A team-mate ran around the corner in front of me. I panicked and tried to shoot - only he was quicker. He soon apologised for the TK but I told him it was OK - especially since I was trying to shoot him too.

lol

I still tk once in a while as well. Yes, many times it is the fault of the idiot Rambo that charges into your LOF to get the kill on the target you have so carfully aquired. Shame on him, but I believe an apology is still required for the tking party. He'll get tired of this happening and maybe be more aware of the location of his team mates or pay attention to the "frag out" alert. In the defense of those tkers in this circumstance: Fire control will help this situation. Say a group of 3 teammates are moving along and spot one target, you don't all have to haul ass after him and open fire. This will result not only in tks, but his partner who was watching his back or was just tagging along, will most likely finish off whoever is left of your fireteam. Now I know most INF players don't give a damn about fire discipline and area of coverage, but this would eliminate many tks.

The other instance under which I have tk'd unintentionally is when I enter a room, or round a corner or some dumb-ass teammate comes charging around the corner because they heard footsteps and opens fire on me and missed. Not a good idea, because many a time I have returned fire and put them down, merely as a REFLEX REACTION to being fired upon. (I don't consciously or purposely open fire on a known teammate because they fire at me and miss.) Shame on me? Maybe and I do apologize in these instances as well, however, I let them know that they did open fire on me first. One should apologize for ALL tks no matter the reason.

To those of you who tk purposely and continually, (you know who you are) we will come for you. You are just another target in my sights and God help any opponent who gets in my way once I'm on your trail.

LOL I TK less now that I've been playing for a while but it's still funny as hell when I run around a corner right into my teammate and we both fire in panic but we realize at the last minute we're shooting at each other and pull our guns away so we miss the other person. That's happened a bunch.

Could've been me, hehe... There are times when I think before shooting and others when I react. But, man, in close-quarter CQB (erm, wait, is there any other kind? heh, sorry) I panic most of the time.. I'm like "ACK! PERSON! HEAD! SHOOT!" and hear "Watch your fire!" (whatever happened to "dead men tell no tales"? Hell, what happened to "man with 3 rounds in the face tells no tales"? Hehe)

I always feel bad when I TK.. Never gives me a satisfied feeling. I can't see why some people do it on purpose. Maybe the next version will slow down the pace of the game and let you realize "okay, he's wearing BLUE camo, not GREEN... That means I -don't- shoot him..." before you click that mouse button, hehe.

i personally witnessed (and subsequently was involved in) a pretty nasty case of intentional TKing... i was on a public server and ran into stormcaller, so we practiced a little fireteam movement... so anyways, in one of the rounds on dockside, some guy who will remain unnamed apparently joined our fireteam... he popped off a round with his DE early in the round at what i thought was nothing in particular, so we continued moving... not 2 seconds later, he hit storm with a round from the DE, and 2 seconds after that, he TKd storm... obviously intentional... so, enraged, i proceeded to put him down with a burst from my m16... he subsequently never explained his actions... :(
now, i realize it wasn't right for me to TK him, but i was pretty mad that he TKd right in front of me, and i guess i just snapped...

Often i'll spray a couple rounds of my AK at friendlies that jump out at me....fortunately, instead of just waiting for it to stop firing, i immediately aim away. Rarely do i FF or TK. The TK's that annoy me are when me and a team mate look at each other from a distance, and i decide that he's a friendly and don't shoot. After examining me a little longer, my bright buddy will put a couple rounds in me, and hesitate when he hears the "Friendly fire!" voice. This only phases him for a moment, and shortly after, he finishes off with his stupidity.

I love people.:minigun: :stupid:

Amen. If I TK someone, I usually profusely apologize. But if they ran in front of my gun while I'm trying to snipe, I'm going to let them know that it was their own damned fault.
