After 5 minutes of gameplay, I have to say that the game feels a lot like U2XMP which is good for me. I wish that there was a way to speed the game up a little. It feels a LOT like XMP. One of the things that I played with but didn't love in the U2 version was the game speed.... just a hare faster would be cool. Otherwise, the things in the UTXMP mod seem to be different. Not better, not worse just different. It will take a little getting used to but I think its FAR better than 12 servers of U2XMP... there are already a lot of people playing this.... just my 2 cents..

the assault rifle crosshair kida looks tacky and cheap IMO
i'll say what i have to say on the classes once i find out whats causing lag
but nerfed rangers sounds great to me
/me fed up of 2 hit kills

I'm really enjoying this game.. playing now actually.

Suggestion: make "hacking progress" bars yellow and not green. you can't see it while you're actually hacking. because the hacking... nanomachines or whatever are green.

oh yeah, it'd be nice to have an option where you could just use one crosshair, and have it be yellow or something. some of these, i can't see it at all when i'm moving around.

My opinion:

+:
Less lag
Definately XMP
Vehicles are more responsive (see less lag?)
Hud is less a problem than I thought
Vehicles look fine (don't know what people are talking about with them feeling smaller, move the camera in closer peeps!)
Minigun on juggernaut makes sense (i'd have preferred the flamethrower as to avoid jugg/goliath debates, but w/e)
Dixie horn seems easier to pull off :D

- UT2004 muts
- Definately needs the old cursor back
In game effects
- Most are good, but don't look as good as the original ones? Are they placeholders for better ones? (EMP grenade & hacking effect for example)
- Deploy and force gates look great though
Jugg minigun needs a targetting reticle for sure in 3rd person mode
I thought there were going to be more maps initially?
Wheres the female ranger? She get canned for this release?
Any way to switch to 3rd person on the fly? (Server may have had it disabled when i was testing it)
Other random bugs

All in all... I'm highly impressed. I never thought we'd see XMP ported to UT2004. There's definately some funky bugs floating around in it, but there's definately a lot of promise in this.

Personally, my only large concerns with the current release are the fact that the pistol fires at the same speed, maybe even slower, than the sniper rifle (I'm afraid I'm failing to grasp the intent behind this) and the fact you can't dodge after landing from a jump (though I presume this is engine-related, as opposed to being intended).

Everything else seems to either be working well, or be a fairly minor problem (though the fact that there are no laser trip-mines is a little depressing). Good work all in all, and I look forward to future updates and improvements.

Are we going to have actual bot support? As of now, all they do is spawn in the same place i do and as the same class as i spawn. IMO, bot support is a must because playing with bots will help introduce new people like me to the game.

Sparrow, tripmines exist just hard to access them...its wierd..

Some problems not mentioned

- People join game/play and the selection of class menu won't go away causing those people to not be able to use 1 2 or 3 slot weapons.

- is the thing where you can't just enter a turret the way its meant to be.. to prevent camping?

-mantling i miss it so : (, the only way i could get up from the caves in sunset was to walljump - which i don't think new players understand much

When I die as the ranger in zoom, the deploy point I choose appears zoomed. I don't know if you stay zoomed when you spawn, because the game was won right as I spawned. Anybody know? And even if it resets at spawn, it's still annoying to have an 8X zoomed deploy stick in your face.

firstly: to get into vehicle turrets when the vehicles are unmanned, i was told to jump into the vehicle then press 2 (or 3 for back turret of harby) by an op in IRC ... i haven't tried it cos i had to goto work b4 i had time

secondly: what is mantling?

If you're trying to jump to some high ledge, mantling allows you to 'grab onto the ledge and pull yourself up'. It's done by holding jump.

UT:XMP is great !
But one thing that really bothers me, is that the vehicles seem to be very light !... a raptor rolls on a mine, and it's pushed 20 meters higher !

Yes that has happened to me as well,also in close combat movement is very jerky kinda like lag but i do not think it is lag ping is good etc. almost impossible to tell team mates in a turret, Gunner is way to fast and powerfull i saw more peeps playing gunner last night than in a year with u2xmp,running speed is to slow for ranger same with jumping close but not quite right.

new bugs i have been killed by rocket and machine gun turrets but i have yet to see them fire,not a single thing has ever come out of them i just get the i am hit sount and you have no way of knowing where it is coming from,bacause the turrets are very hard to see also.

shock lance is either to slow to fire secondary or vehicles have been sped up they outrun the round way faster than u2xmp.

can not see hit effects with any weapon and smoke nade does not have much smoke till to late needs to disperse much faster

pistol fires to slow it is supposed to be simi auto and secondary is 3 shot BURST all at once.not one at a time

turbo on raptorneeds to be quicker responce for certain jumps i could do in u2xmp i can not do in UTxmp not enough go power :)

seems to be alot of warping in combat close combat not sure on that one

win xp pro noservice pack 2 only have service pack 1
geforce ti 4600 vid card 128 meg
i am running everything in game on normal except world detail that is on high.

ok.. heres my long ass list:

Gameplay:

|Issues|
-Ranger's pistol needs to be semi-automatic, right now its pretty weak
-Ranger's smoke grenades need to form MUCH faster, right now it takes a bit for them to form
-Tech's gas grenades have the same problem as the Ranger's smoke grenades
-Juggernaut needs a crosshair for the machine gun
-Tech's shotgun needs a better fire effect, all we got now is smoke. Try converting the original effect over
-Teamates need some kind of indicator so you know who's who, it can become very difficult distinguishing the 2 in a large firefight on maps like Kaminari
-Dead teammates need some kind of indicator telling you "hey I need to be revived" (maybe a voice command like in the original too?)
-Techs AssaultRifle secondary fire is pretty much useless, do something with it
-Gunners concusion grenades blinding effect dosnt last long enough, even if you score a direct hit, needs to be amped up
-Concusion grenades do send vehicles flying into the air like in U2XMP
-Cant see absolute **** in the turret position on the Raptor, its almost impossible to see, please clear it up, and maybe reduce the recoil when firing
-Raptors gun turret spreads WAY to much, its way less effective than the original
-Vehicles need to take alot of damage from obsticles, thats what made them so unreliable in U2XMP, right now people can just be absolutely careless with them......
Garden's turrerts bolt effect needs to come in bursts, and MOVE MUCH MUCH FASTER!

|Bugs|
-Getting out of a Raptor while moving is deadly 90% of the time, and prooves difficult when trying to revive your teammate after because they seem to get stuck onto the vehicle
-When you die, and are waiting to get revived, sometimes the death animation wont play and you will be left in a standing pose.
-Happened only a few times, but when I tried to revive a dead teammate, they started jotting all over the place o_O maybe lag?
-Sometimes I cant switch back to my regular weapons when using delployables as a Tech (been mentioned a few times)
-If you drop a turret/forcewall and pick it up again, and then try to place it again, you cant, you just get an empty hand
-If you initially spawn, and you manage to stay alive long enough and your team gains full energy, and you try picking up a rocket turret/force wall or any deployable you dont initially spawn with from an ammo pad, it wont give you them. You have to die and respawn
-You cant hold any more than 1 rocket and sentry turret, unlike in U2XMP, eliminating "stockpiling" SUCKS
-Force walls sometimes screw up and show a wall thats not attached to anything, that you can walk through
-Cant select laser-trip mines as a Gunner at all
-Turrets wont work online even when your team has full energy

Graphics:

|New Particle Effects/Misc effects|
-Techs new fire effect for the Assault Rifle is very weak, revert back to the original, it looked *WAY* better and much sharper
-Techs fire effect for the shotgun needs to be reverted back to the original, EXPECIALLY the secondary fire, it looks like crap comapred to U2XMP's
-EMP Grenade explosion has absolutely nothing on the original, please revert back....
-Rocket trails the RL are too white and puffy
-All bullet hit effects are crappy compared to U2XMP's, I always hated the UT2003/4 bullet hit effect, its really lame
-Vehicle explosions/sounds were WAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY cooler in U2XMP, I ****ing loved them... now.. they are *bleh*
-Replace the Juggernauts machinegun with something like the Raptor's please, conventional machineguns have absolutely no place in this game, give us something futurisitic. If you want to make me really happy, give it the weapon effect the turrets have in XMP-Garden, green death bolts AHOY!
-Revert back to the orginal firing effects for the Ranger's sniper rifle and pistol please, the new ones are lacking....
-Overall just do away with any of the stock UT2004 particle effects, they really suck, U2's were better by milestones.....

Ok I'm gonna get flamed for sure but what the hell...
What is with " I want the old this and that" all about? I don't get it... There are more iportant things for them to work on than a cursor or a crosshair(which btw u could probably put the k-aus x-hair pack in). Maybe it's just cuz I'm a noob that I feel this way but sh1t give'em a break and quit nit picking on small, inconsequential things and focus on real bugs and post them in the bug reports section.

Edit: Not that everything you guys are saying is wrong... just some of them are silly IMO.
