Keiichi, can you tell me if PS2 will EVER have online support? The Dreamcast has finally delivered on its promise but these console manufacturers rarely keep their promises. I havent been keeping up with PS2 news.

But what about digital TV? dosent it go up to 720x480? or 720x512?

What about that damned x-box (I dont know why, but I'm hoping that the x-box is NOT a great success and the PS2 is...)

ahhh. I actually liked the fact that square had kept it's FF games pure, and stayed away from voice acting. Playing FF games for me was like reading a good book with great art... ( yes i actually read for fun :) ) I suppose if the voice over's are done right it might be good, but if there's an option to turn the voice volume off, and go back to the good old text i will.

boom

I don't know why so many people bash FF7 and 8. I thought they were both great. In fact, I thought FF8 was one of the best RPGs I'd ever played. While everyone else was practically ejaculating all over their keyboards when it was announced that FF9 would "go back to it's roots", I, on the other hand, was rather pissed. I liked the sci-fi elements and realistic characters. When FF9 was released, I gladly layed down the $50 to snag a copy, but I never felt the awe and sheer exhileration with it that I felt with the other two titles.

I mean, how do you relate to a mutant monkey-man, or a freakish lump of God-knows-what with a tongue that's twice as large as it's body, or a black mage whose face is nothing more than a shadow with two glowing yellow "eyes"? All those "cute" characters and clichéd plotlines are all well and good if you're a 10-year-old with Attention Deficit Disorder, but I want something a little more serious, a little more complex, and a little more adult. I, for one, am glad that FF10 is taking a step in the right direction by going with realistic characters again. It may not be sci-fi, but it's a start.

FF7 was my fav so far. Although FF8's story was pretty good and the graphics excellant, it was kinda short and very limited NPC interaction.

It's a wise person who knows the difference between free speech and cheap talk.

I love all the Final Fantasy's that are on the PS. FF7 would be my favorite, followed closely by 9, which is again followed closely by 8. I don't think any game will ever have a villian as cool as Sephiroth was :)

I'm going with Keiichi on this one.

I liked FF7 and 8 a great deal. As Keiichi said, I like the sci-fi elements and the overall serious mood. I really got into them, whereas I'm just sorta waiting for the end of FF9 so I can move on and play something else. FF9 was more than a little disappointing to me. I don't plan on getting a PS2, not even for FFX, since I'd personally rather have an X-box so I more than likely won't get to play FFX, unless by some miracle the rumors about the possibility of Square developing for the X-box turn out to be true, but I still like that they are returning to the realistic characters and the more serious mood.
