... Also Field Medic could you do your magic touch to these two german actors?

FM, if possible, then please post the clickclack radio stuff in a seperate package here too for future usage and allowing others to setup similar voice packs that would all then use the same radio style.
Am I correct that you 'only' need to lay the two or three parts over the original wav or is there more behind the magic that you give'em?

Sweet! Now im just waiting on Field medic to do the last spanish I posted above and the post #18 and the germans there and viola! Beppo adds the finishing touches, we add a readme and shabam! done after testing to make sure its all Kosher. So far this pack will be on the GD server as soon as its done. Im sure all the euro servers will use it as well. Nice job guys!

I don't know what FM did. For me basically:
Tweaked the speed for more drama sometimes
Equalizer filter with a decreased freqency around 1.4kHz
Mixing some white noise
Adding the beginning and ending click

Done , Crackle-In.wav and Crackle-Out are what i use exactly in any radio sound

First , i use GoldWave that is downloadable by anyone (shareware , but the limit is the number of actions at each usage , high enough for what we do here , no time limit or no functions hidden) .

0/ After starting Goldwave and loading Crackle-In.wav , Crackle-Out.wav and the voice that needs tweaks , i just cut and paste the Crackle-In and Crackle-Out in the beginning and ending of the voice sample. (as easy as selecting/copy/paste/delete of a word or a notepad)

After that, i cut/delete the unusefull silences at the beginning and the end of the voice itself (again very easy).

then i select the voice only (not the radio crackles) and i apply this method in this order
1/ i click on Effects ->Dynamics and i select the "preset" Sign Changes

2/ after this , i move the 2 middle "up and down" pointers until i have the exact sound i want (not too much noisy background, but not too much clear) and i click OK when it is good for me. (after several sound tweaks sessions, i know +/- where to put them for each sounds now)

3/ Now the 2nd filter will be used , again i click on Effects but after that i select Filter then "Bandpass-Stop.." and i select the preset "Voice Hum and Hiss filter" and i click OK , no need to tweak anything there , as what will decide the final quality is point 2/ .

At this instant if the voice is not well understandable , you will have to undo what you just did in 2/ and 3/ and do again point 2/ and 3/ until all is good enough.

4/ now, the voice sounds really as a radioed one , but sometime you will need to up or down the sound volume of the entire voice sample or just some part of it , you will see yourself when you will hear the complete (+raido crackle) .wav file.

The best setting in my opinion is to not have the voice having a too much higher volume than the radio crackles.
But again, it depends of the radio voice.

I hope that it will help people that want to make the radio voices or help tweaking them or use special magic ;) .

{GD}NTKB , here are 2 german2 voices packs with radioed effect i tried to apply.

german2-1CLIC.zip has the pack with only a radio crackle at the end (nothing in the beginning as you wanted)

german2-2CLIC.zip has the pack with the regular Crackle-In and Crackle-Out in the radio voices

In my opinion , it sounds better with the crackle In + crackle Out. I dont think it is very realistic to have a radio voice without a crackle at the beginning (and as it is used on all the other langage pack , i think it should be 2 radio crackle , to have a continuity) .

For this time i made the 2 possibilities , to see what is the one people prefer : with 2 radio crackles or only with one at the end.

I will try to tweak the germanvoices.zip and the spanish2.zip pack tomorrow in my free time , always if no one has done them before me, and after people will have choosen the german2 pack they prefer.

As i prefer to know what to do exactly before having to do something again later.

Sweet would you mind doing the 3 voices in post 18 since you did a good job so far? Just make sure the german ones only have one click at the end please.

Edit: w00ps insta posted. Reviewing them now

Edit2: Ok your right about it. Although I wanted them alittle different. Buts its fine. Pump out the last spanish one and we are done people after a few beta tests!

I have done a couple of samples with added noise and compression.

Let me know what you think.

I think i will be dead tomorrow at work :D
Here are the last 2 pack i needed to tweak. I tried to apply the same radio-like effect to the voices (+the 2 crackles) .
I hope they are good enough , i am just very tired now ;)

>jayhova : superb work !
I like a lot the shhh effect . Maybe it is a bit too high, as it covers the crackle (and i think to be more understandable with the shh , voices need a bit higher volume too)
But if you want to make the same treatment to all the pack actually finished (only DarkBls radio pack does not need that, as this kind of background noise is already integrated) , be my guest : the final langage pack will have a very polished feeling in my opinion at the end if such a nice addition is made.

>{GD}NTKB , maybe it should be usefull to edit your first post of this thread to include the final radio packs , when they will be finished , it will be easier to find them there .

Read previous page :
you even answered about the second german pack when i made the 2 or 1 click possibilities.
This last one is the other german pack

So you have the 2 german pack ready:
german2-2CLIC.zip
and germanvoiceMod.zip

I thought the fact i kept their name from your posts should have made this obvious (for a reminder you named yourself those pack : german2.zip and germanvoice.zip ).

I think you are right about that. I will drop the static another 3 Db. I did want to make the change obvious though. I'll go for a bit more subtley. I may add some random pops.

Thanks a lot Field Medic !

Ok, I need the names of the voice actors ... real or nick or both... just the way you want to be named within the script files and the readme later on too I guess.

So:
a) Spanish 1: SpanishMod.zip
b) Spanish 2: spanish2Mod.zip
c) French 1: FR_DarkBls_V2_1of2.zip and FR_DarkBls_V2_2of2.zip
d) French 2: DamienModv3.zip
e) German 1: germanvoiceMod.zip
f) German 2: german2-2CLIC.zip

Used "standard" voices:
"Acknowledge", "Friendly Fire", "Watch your fire", "Clear", "AreaClear", "Contact", "Cease fire", "Move", "Defend", "Hold up", "Go", "GoGoGo", "Engage", "Frag out", "Fallback", "Need some backup", "Need some backup NOW", "Man down", "Tango down", "Hostile down", "Weapon dry", "Hold fire" and "Hold this position"

Special wavs and missing ones:
a) - all 'standards' included -
b) "Defend", "Hold up", "Engage" and "Hold fire" are missing "Hold up" replaced by "Hold this position"
c) one extra: "In position"
d) "Hold up" missing, replaced by "Hold this position"
e) "Defend", "Engage" and "Hold Fire" missing. Extras: "Secured" and "Roger that"
f) "Cease fire", "Defend", "Engage" and "Hostile down" missing. One extra: "Watch it!"
(Anmerkung: "Cease fire" bedeutet "Feuer einstellen" und hat nichts mit Freundbeschuss oder "Pass auf" zu tun. :))

The BETA version (using Beta in its name too to avoid missmatches) can be grabbed from HERE
(all tested out fully already with many many bots)

I'll get on the missing file asap, Beppo.

Just tried it ingame, it's awesome. Beppo, nice job of curse, but special props go to Fieldmedic. His work makes the voices a LOT better. I bow

Edit : i just lead my new bot team into action. Behold IF team, with Darkbls, NTKB, reaper and myself, all with original voices. This is "teh shiznit" ! :D
