Escape route ideas?

idea: make a trigger that activates a lift. Prisoners can liftjump into a little hole in the ceiling. Every time it's used, two pupa skaarj (or whatever you call those little annoying monsters) are spawned in jail (or outside of jail :lol: ). If one manages to get into the hole in the ceiling, he has a chance of 1 out of 4 to spawn out of jail, 3 out of 4 back in jail. Additionally, another skaarj is spawned in jail. The type of skaarj get tougher every time you get into the hole: first a small flying skaarj, then one with a stick, then a gasbag, then a warlord, then a queen. Something like that ^^

ps. When is someone gonna add some weapons in jail? So you have a 'starting weapon'? Never seen that before. Nor any other pickups.

I'm not sure, doesn't the infojail actor remove weapons in jail?
(like I once tried dropping my assault rifle for a teammate and suddenly it was gone. I did not have it my teammate did not and it was not on the floor)

They usually put the weapon outside of the Jail. Never thought of actually putting some inside of the jail.

Get your jailfight mod done so I can put it with Egypt along with weapons in the jail. Makes jail much more fun :)

Ok tested the sizes out a bit.
Crouching player 64x64x64
standing up player 96X?X?.
(WTF? seems that their height is only 1.5 times their fat ass)
Well to reach a crowling hole the highest person would have to crouch
while the others are standing up.
So it should be
number of players-1 X96 +64 (for the top player)

I personally wasn't a fan of the huge ladder espaces or runs through an obsticle course of death. if an escape takes too many people or is too long its not going be useful (its just something to do in jail). Two Ideas I had that kinda worked were

1) have a small elevator that only one person can fit in crouching (try to keep numbers down as close to 1 as possable) than have a button that lowers the elevator down but make the button only usable once per min or something. can drop the player being lowered so the escape makes them take some damage so its not a free escape

2) have a system that punishes people that fail. in JB-1337 the alt escape was always open unless someone messed up. what would happen is at one point there was a laser gride like system (well just a thunder texture as jb-1337 was a joke). a player had to crouch down to get by the lasers withour triggering it. if the player hit the lasers it would close the alt escape door for 2min and spawn a deemer missle in the jail because I found it funny to kill everyone in the jail you screwed over :p. to make it hard on the other side of the field were 2 monsters that would shoot at you with splash damage weapons to either kill you or make you fly up so you trigger the door.

3) one last idea which I played around with in 2k4 before I got sick of the game. damage is good but can add tricks. had a pipe in slime for one jail that one player would have to open the door (and wouldn't have time to run back and get through before the pipe closed). the trick was to use the shield gun to get through the slime. best case scenario would be that the player gets out with 1/3 their HP (but hey thats the price of freedom ;))

hehe, yeah JB-Ancient is all that :) I liked it, however getting people to help was almost impossible (only Zedmaestro from what i remember) and when i do open the side door...no one notices it :rolleyes:
All my escape ideas are too techinical to put into practice apparently :eek:

...have a couple of map layout ideas, hopefully I'll get the chance to do some mapping after xmas :rolleyes:

Last radical escape idea i had was pinched from "The Great Escape"

A piece of floor would conseal a tunnel...the floor would give way after alot of sheild gun bashing (killing the player lots of times in the process :lol: ). You could have a cracked tile to show that there is something different.
Under the tile would be the tunnel \o/ but keeping to the theme, in order to escape; the player has to sit on a small wooden cart :) (maybe room for 2? ) which will pull them along the dark candle lit tunnel.
BUT! to stop mass escaping by running the tunnel which would probably ruin things, a player has to stay at the entrance to the tunnel to work the air pump :eek: If no one is there, the people inside and on the cart will suffercate and ruining the escape ;)
If it will be a big map with lots of players...i suggest a second "point" like the air pump which makes the cart go faster. (the more co-op the faster the escape attempt)

I would love to see someone put in a little sound clip of "the great escape theme tune" when an escape is in progress :lol:

I don't understand everything you said, but I am going to do something similar for the escape in JB-Fragtion \o/: Each jail has 4 railways and a trigger that can be used once a minute. Once the trigger is activated, a few seconds later, four minecarts cross the jail, 3 or them full of sand and one empty. One player could jump into the empty cart, which will cross a short cave to the base... :)

If you have seen the movie or read about "the great escape" it would be more clear.
I dont like escape route that involve skillfull jumping or timed jumps that much..i like the simple and fun ones that involve abit of co-op :)
