I´ve read how the INF team want to impement the equipment pick up from dead soldiers, using a menue.

I want to suggest the same, for dropping and exchanging.

Exchange equipment
First, with exchange I mean the ability, to give weapons and ammunition to soldiers, from hand to hand and not always throw it to the ground and pick it up, which looks dumb.

You have to look at the soldier and stand close to him and hold the use key (or a special key), a menue appears where you can select your equipment. Choosing weapon, or ammunition in that menue, will 'transfere' this item to the soldier you looking at. This cost minimum time and look not so dumb.
Don´t know what animation should be made.

Well this is not a real exchange, bu more of giving away, but therefore you have to ask the mate for cooperation.

Drop equipment
I would suggest a menue to drop stuff too.
Pushing the drop key, will drop the weapon, or ammo you use.
You hold the drop key and a menue appears. On top are weapons listed, than the ammo and other.

That way you can drop stuff without to select it and you can drop ammo of weapons you do not have in hands, or even do not have in your armory.

Pushing the weapon drop, will drop current weapon, pushing ammo drop, will drop ammo.
But holding these keys, will have the same menue, with gunz on top and ammo below.

-------------------------------------------------------

Throwing equipment
What about a real throw of the weapons if you use the drop keys, not menue by holding the key.

1) If a soldier is close, you can exchange, but what if the soldier is behind cover at a short distance and probably need a sniperrifle you have, to neutralize and enemy only he can see?
Therefore, you can really throw the weapons and ammo by pushing the drop keys.
Looking lower to the ground will drop the thing to the ground near you. But if you look to the front, you can just throw the stuff 3- 5 meters. To throw it a bit further look a bit more up.
Same goes for ammo. If the mate needs ammo, but cant leave the cover, you can throw it to him.

2) If you crouch, and look down, you lay down the weapon (or ammo), with no noise.
If looking forward, you throw it like described above in point 1).

-------------------------------------------

Temporary weapon use
What about a feature, to be able to hold a weapon in the hands, while your inventory list is full?

If the next INF will have a limitted armory you can carry (for example just 2, or 3 rifles) and you are at the limit, you should be able to deselect your current weapon and grab another one and use it.
If you select a weapon from your inventory again, the hand held gun will be dropped automatical (not thrown but dropped to the ground, if not using the throw key).

An can hardly imagine a situation where these additional features would add a lot to gameplay. But they would make the keysetup certainly more complicated and scare newbies.

Drop and Pickup works ok for me.

The normal dropping ability would exist as it works now.
Nothing would change, but you would have the ability to make it different. It would work good for professional players, clan players, I think. But nobody have to use it.

I was thinkin about this a while ago and I think I can up with a good way to do this. This is what I came up with. When a player makes a request for an item, if he comes within a certain distance to a teammate an icon or message comes up telling that player that his teammate would like item X. All that he needs to do is point at that player and hit the use key, the item is then transfered.

I dont like the idea of selecting items from a menu...

its not realistic.
If a teammate needs a weapon, having an icon appear onscreen and using menus to "accept" the transaction is not the right way to do it.

the teammate should use TS, keybind, or text to request the item, and then he should either:
a) walk up to me, and rummage thru my pack. (remember, in the next INF we want realistic portrayal of equipment, so if he needs a 'nade or mags, he will have to actually select the nades or pouches visible on my player model, then grab/use it or whatever)

or
b) I will have to *select* the weapon and give it to him with my HAND. you know, like IRL...

other then the unrealistic aspects of menu's and icons, I do think a dynamic throw/hand/set system, that uses the throw key, but performs different actions based on where you are looking and how close it is to you would be both useful & realistic.

But, INF should never sacrifice realism in exchange for an "E-Z" arcade style interface, etc. and on a similar note, limiting the number of rifles is a bad idea too. you could probably sling a halfdozen unloaded SIGs on your back, they wouldnt be quickly accessible in a combat situation, but you could do it.

Hmmm, an interesting idea Psychomorph but it sounds like you're trying to add complication to something that doesn't need it. Sure dropping stuff for people looks a bit stupid but it works.

What I'd like to see is some kind of revamping of the pickup system. Too often I see someone taking a dirt nap with some lovely STANAG mags I'd like and I have to stand above their corpse fiddling through menus before my good pal Raynor introduces me to some of his pre-warmed 5.56mm. Sure you can point at the thing you want to pick up directly, but without a crosshair I end up picking up lots of 5-7 mags and no precious, preeecioussses STANAGs.
