Arthur C. Clarke, the "Rama" books.

1st book is only ok, but you need it to get into the later books. The later books will blow your mind.

I never read the 2001 books, but damn, Rama kicks serious ass.

anybody here read The Gold Coast by Kim Stanely Robinson (of Mars fame, I very well might be wrong on the name though). Wierd how recently malls have begun to go supernova and boeing was contracted to do work on Star Wars lite, just like in the book
