Most of the dual boot system I believe are XP/Vista or XP/7 or XP/Linux or 7/Linux or some combination like that. Like someone else said, why would you want to do Vista/7. Now if you think it might solve your problems, then maybe it would be worth a try. Personally, I would try harder to solve your problems with the almost working system first. If you still want to try, then check these forum sections at pcper:

Well, I actually dual-boot Win 7 Ultimate x64 on one hard drive (640GB WD Caviar Black), and Win XP Home x32 on another (500GB WD Caviar Black). I believe it works that you have to install the 32-bit system first, and then install the 64-bit system after that, in which that will activate the Windows bootloader when you turn on your PC, so you can choose from a menu which one you want to proceed with.

If they are both Win7 it shouldn't matter. The only thing you have to keep in mind is you have to install the newest OS last. So if you want to have XP, Vista and 7 at the same time you have to install XP first, then Vista and then 7 as everything else would overwrite the win7 bootloader. Then you obviously couldn't boot 7 anymore.

When in doubt, use virtualization...Virtual PC, VirtualBox, and VMware Player will indeed do fairly well. Just make sure your motherboard BIOS supports a Virtualization mode, which mine does, and then you can certainly run an x86 OS inside a x64 environment very easily, so there's no compromise. In fact, I'm running openSUSE 11.3 x86 inside Win 7 Ultimate x64 as we speak.
