Does logitech mouseware sensitivity affect ingame sens?

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

I'm glad Epic seems to want to try to stick to their PC roots, and ride that out for as long as possible, but I'm starting to wonder how long it will last.
Some valid arguments in your posts, Aenubis. You actually got me into serious thinking on it.

...But even with the disadvantages of the huge variety in options, I think console games are not yet a full replacement for PC gaming.
Console keyboards (or replacements, like a Nostromo) and mouses are just a small step away from becoming standards, but what about the editor? The huge advantage of this game is the advanced possibilities to extend and create things, ranging from maps to Total Conversion Mod's. The amounts of custom content is so huge, you just can't compare it. How many console games are shipped with an editor that allows to create real levels? Not much, and I really doubt that will change soon.
Another thing is the online interest. AFAIK, only the basic internet tools are available. But is there support for Teamspeak? IRC? Or even simple forums? I don't think so. I'm not saying it's impossible that it's going to change, but I doubt it...

If I can be arsed, I might make a list of all the INI/GUI/Windows h4x I know and post them up so people can try things out and we can get things more on an even ground.
I tried doing that for about as long as I have this game. Though some ppl thank me for things I point out, there's just no way to reach everyone :(

XBOX360 uses UBS2 for it's controller ports right? I know xbox uses 1st gen USB... this leaves open so many possibilities for what can be expanded on the system. They alread ship with 10gig harddrives, and iirc, the new ones will be external, and upgradeable. They make USB everything.

Porting an ed, and allowing a basic file system is a few steps away for a console gamer to be able to edit content.

USB is even capable of daisy chain, and most keyboard drivers are universal. They can make a keyboard that plugs into the adapted USB XBOX controller port, and have a usb port on the keyboard for a mouse. Heck, I used my trackball, and a sharkboard to play Red Faction on the PS2, just too see if it worked, and it did. Had to use generic mouse drivers, and was kinda lost without my accelleration, but it was better then a thumbstick.

That could even easily enable games use of said input devices for play, let alone internet, ported editors, and whatever else you might need to type for, without taking up more then one controller space on your console. If they author the UEd on a second disc, and run it like a game, where it saves levels as saved games, then your golden. ...and all this without the resource beast that is MS Windows. Some finer points of porting the Ed might be a bit more complicated, but the hardware is there. They may even suffer through a phase of "if you wanna edit, own a PC" and people who even do that, could/would play the game via their console. They could also just steal software from the modders, since FTP and Internet clients already exists that run on the xbox.

Hehheh. THis makes me want to get an xBox just to get Halo and own everyone who is stuck on a controller. I would have such a massive advantage....

I know...Electrolyte had the same problem. Version 0.3 supports it, but I was only able to find it on eDonkey.
And using that rate checker shows I'm still set at default (125hz) so all that searching we did was pointless

Yes. Windows limits USB to 125 by default.

I set mine to 250 and didn't notice any difference except my aim got worse because my mouse got a little faster. Awesome.

About to re-try it, I forgot I had a PS/2 mouse also plugged into my PC at the same time that might have messed it up.

EDIT: Still doesn't work. Looks like I won't get the full function from my Diamondback then.

Anyone who is on 2000, please check with the mouserate program that T2A posted on page one before trying the patch, I've found out 2000 doesn't need it since it detects the firmware on the mouse and sets the poll rate according to the mouse's specification. It does NOT do this on XP (hence why the 1.1 patch is for XP/2k3 only).

When messing with sens options outside the game (windows, mouseware, etc.) you should try and use as high of a sensitivity as possible to max out DPI. The in-game sens can be dropped by the same factor so in the end you get the same sensitivity but more accuracy.
I just tried that, my mouse was set at the center setting in windows and I put it all the way to its fastest. Now my windows mouse moves from one end of the screen to the other with only an inch of movement. But my in-game mouse is exactly the same as it was before I increased the windows mouse sensitivity. If you're using mousewares (9.76 or better), there is an advanced utility to modify reg settings that dictate whether or not it ignores your mouse settings in games.

Try that, if that is the case.

Yeah, even using that beta, and trying to change the setting, my usb mouse still polls at 125, which is slower than the adapted PS2.
