DM-TheUntitled (incomplete map) - I Need Team-Help!!!

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. I have just started a map called "DM-TheUntitled". As n00by as it sounds, it's not n00by at all.

I posted here not really for Beta but I need both feed-back and cooperative help (as in having someone to help map).

In case you may have thought, this is actually only my second map EVER (!!) since DM-CondorBase. My skills have improved a lot.

I'm asking for help not because I'm lazy, it's becuase this map will contain LOTS of triggers. This map is based on the movie called National Treasure. There WILL be a treasure room containing a Redeemer with some Extra Warheads. The map will possess both outdoor and interior in the general usage of "FordText.utx" and "Hour_IndusX.utx". And of course, puzzles would be solved or basically searching for switches to hit or mover-type items to be found then clicked on a hole in a wall.

The map's lay-out is almost complete and already an idea can be seen from the screenshot below... the map will contain of course several floors and all segments will possess the same detail seen below.

[THE STORY]

After all under-engineered arenas, ancient and mythologic places, and custom-built blood colliseums were posted into the Tournament's venue rosters, this one was quite weary and strange.

Liandri had been hiding this place for years until the day private archeologists from another major corporation found the metallic ruin being defended heavily by Liandri's personal mercenary force of genetically modified fighters. The archeologists were slaughtered but the public soon discovered. Liandri Rules Board could not resist the public's feed-back of listing the strange ruins into the Tournament's arena rosters. So here, the place, having no name or even inscriptions related to it at all was instead named "The Untitled".

Yet, the arena fighters know trully NOTHING about why this place was built and why it had been so sacred to Liandri's possession.

Not really, architechturally I can do what needs to be done, and I'm just very good with special effects, but I flunk at lay-outs and bot-pathing will be quite a pain.

What if one builder brush per user? Then an active chat system to make sure non of the team-members go loco and mess up the map badly. And maybe if the geo or lighting is going to rebuit, permission would be asked to everyone currently logged-in. If one user doesn't do anything for thirty seconds then automatic kick-out!

The editor works with a numeric system, the builderbrush has to be brush number0, and it can't handle more than 1 of the same object.

What's the theme? As detailed as possible and how should it feel, what should it resemble

And what's the lay-out?

The theme? It's a bit mixed but the place is the remnant of half-classic medieval-like thing. Although to make things look more complicated, metal additions, machines, and high-tech decorations have been added into the material. It's like a standard arena-themed map only that SP elements have been taken into consideration. The lay-out of course is a hybrid of both arena deathmatch and single-player following that the triggers (switches and stuff to the treasure room). The general blue-print was hand-drawn and I don't have a scanner nor a digital camera around so maybe I'll use Ms-Paint. Speaking in general to the lay-out. It would be a courtyard sorrounded by indoor areas and then more outdoor areas trimming out the edges of the maps. I had an idea for the fencing and felt like I wanted to apply it which made me decide for the outskirt-outdoor section.

[EDIT]
Take the half of the theme from the movie in which this map was based on, classic architecture with arches with suddenly futuristic pipes standing on the side. For a group for really really good unknown guys, how would they create the perfect place to keep a whole bunch of worldly treasure? It's sort of something like that only that more UT-ish elements have been included.

But I don't think it's very hard, and when the map is finished we (if I'm in) could walk though it to make it an assault with unrealwiki as a manual.
