Ok, im running a athlon x2 6000.
the past year it seems, i havn't been able
to play many games do to it overheating.
I even have a huge fan blowing into the side
of my pc and it still over heats.
I mean, even WoW over heats it and
it's not a very intense game.
could my cpu be on its way out?

Overheating as in your system locks up or focibly shuts down due to heat or are you using a temp sensor that is reading very high?

Also, when was the last time you cleaned out your fan and/or heatsink?

I use Cpuid to read the temps.
yes it does shutdown.
when i'm in game,
to cool it down a bit and keep the game going,
i alt+tab to the desktop and that actually lowers the
temp a bit.
I do clean it out maybe once a week. i have cats
so hair gets around often.

What temperature is your cpu getting to? Which heatsink & fan are you using on the cpu & what kind of thermal paste? Does you case have sufficient cooling, if so, what?
