Comments and Scores

I see this all too often (or something similar):
"I cannot give no score, so I'll give it a ..."

So, I'll open this up for discussion because whatever discussion we previously had about it I have forgotten about. Should we change NaliCity to allow comments without scores?

Um, they don't have to already, unless they claim the map under another name than what they post comments by.

Well imo this will prolly encourage people to post even more non-map related flames etc. than there already is, but at least it might help it stop screwing up the map scores with the endless strings of 1/10 and 10/10

Why don’t we put in an option where if a person rates a map solely by the screenshots, without downloading it and checking it out first, some guys will be knocking on their door.

It could be coded that they could only comment on it after they click the download button... but I don't see that as a very good idea in all situations. So I'm afraid you're stuck with those comments unless you point out specific ones to me. I'll make them disappear.

What I've been seeing in the last week or so is people who just comment on other peoples' comments. No rating, no commenting on the maps just inane rubbish....

This is opposed to people who comment from screenshots or without downloading and playing which you have already warned users against in the add comments page.

... and it's starting to become friggin' annoying.... (What me get annoyed? Never...)

Yeah, I'm thinking too that the "no forced rating for comments" has gotten out of hand...

cant we stop people from deleting their comments, they abuse it
make it like a forum, only able to delete a reply within 12 hours of the posting time or something

the fraze asault map thing was an example of that, 3-4 times deleting his own message to be able of counter flaming whoever else

Personally id like it for authors not to be able to comment on their own maps, as much as it might annoy them. Nothing worse than someone who insists on relpying to every slight critisicm of their maps.

maybe allow an author a set # of comments (maybe 1-2) on their own map.
