He was saying HIS text was 40 words, not yours :}
Oh. Well, I'm used to the paragraph of text directly following a quote to be related to the quote, so I thought he was correcting me. D:

PS: If someone wants to buy MW2 for me I will play it with you and we can go on pub raging adventures together. :)

The game apparently doesn't even check for client-side purity using hashes of the vanilla content. So, people are free to modify game files all they want. The result:

skinhack.jpg

And VAC won't ban for it because it's considered legit under the stipulations of "servers" not being set to be "pure."

This seems like something that would be fixed in a patch -- I mean, client-side purity has been around for a long time -- but for now apparently you are free to do whatever you want to the game's files. D:

Note: Showing this via a killcam shot was a stupid idea. Other people can't see that someone messed with their files because the game is rendered client-side with your own files.

The texture hack is going to be mostly useful in That ****map Wasteland or in Underpass (as seen in the screenshot). Like I said, enjoy the game while it's still somewhat sane, I'm personally letting it die, not really giving a damn to be perfectly honnest.

Even if this game has dedicated servers, it's a console gimmick pos at best.

Zero, Slayer, and myself encountered a hack last night. The players crosshair would instantly snap to someones head resulting in a headshot everytime. Problem was this person sucked to high heaven. I knifed him once, then immediately after took him down with my FAL. I know Slayer and Zero got a couple kills on him too.

Canada... eh
Finally beat the campaign today. All I have to say is it feels like CoD and CoD2 which were the loves of my life. It would have been nice if it was four or six hours longer, but I'm not complaining. For the 6 and a half hours I played the SP, i loved every moment. There are so many epic moments, and did that just happen? Just amazing.

The multiplayer is frustrating but that is pretty much a condition to every multiplayer game.

somewhere; sometime?
now I haven't exactly been following all the news on the epic failure that is MW2's PC release. I've heard all the usual complaints about consolization and the complete lack of support for the PC community such as dedicated servers, modding, and player limits.

then I saw this:
really?
seriously??
no... there's no way.

then again, I guess you couldn't make that sh*t up if you tried.

but this news is just amazing. in a bad way.
like holy crap.
I'm not sure the crew at Infinity could have possibly f*cked this up any more if they had actually planned on it. I mean, people are apparently being dropped by their ISP and/or seeing their monthly rate shoot up 40 bucks due to online play and it's not even isolated in the US.

at this point, the whole ordeal ceases to be a mere failure.
at this point, it crosses into the realm of utter disaster beyond recognition. I almost can't believe what I'm reading.

like this earlier article.
I had no idea it was this bad.
wow.

Modern warfare failing on the PC?

I don't know man, I have been playing it every few days between WoW and TF2, and a good set of hours on weekends.

I have had little or no issues with getting into games. Seriously, if this is what I gain by losing Dedicated servers... bye.

Sure, the mod scene, right...
****ing Epic released their whole goddamn toolset, who needs to mod for another game when you have the whole toolset right there?

As for cheating... duh.. its a PC game, but I'll admit I run into alot less of it (at least noticable) cheating than I did with MW1... hell, a shooter period (well... prehaps not TF2)

if I was gonna "done" the game for something it would be the lack of voice support for "special ops" mode. that sucks dick

but the normal competitive multilayer, pfftt.. that **** is nice.

I see where you dedicated server guys are come'n from though, it was my gut reaction too.
But I took a step back and said "hey why am I pissed"

1. Change
I have played dedicated servers all my life

way easier to get into a game, and I don't have to play with ****ed up server rules, reservered slots, ads, douche bags with admin rights

2. Mods
I ****ing love mods, hell I have made them.

Serious, http://www.udk.com/
I may make a version of my mod with this!

3. Pussification of my FPS
**** you BioShock, DeusEx 2, Borderlands, you broke PC gameplay to fit this game for your console market.

Feels like a shooter. No target locks, ****ty radial menues. Sure lean is out... but I can't remember the last time I used that in MW1... so whatever.

But its cool, I know some folk like to hold grudges :)

oh.. btw, general statement.
if your going to use web links a backup for your arguments I wouldn't go with a website that's called "modern war fail". I feel the same way if someone told me that Obama is destroying america and then linked me an article from conservativeusa.org

Seems a wee bit bias :3

1. Change
I don't see anything wrong with change, as long as it has a positive effect. Left 4 Dead and it's sequel use matchmaking in tandem with dedicated servers. Matchmaking does add to the game, it makes it easy to just pick up and play. Taking dedicated servers out of the game has degraded the quality of the game. Forcing hosting on the player is proving to be detrimental to gameplay. There's no ability to vote to kick a player if they are hacking or otherwise ruining the game. There's no ability to actually vote for a map that you want to play, just to skip the one that's currently set to play, and you can't skip the next one that comes up either. The game would be better if you connected to a machine with the bandwidth, and resources to properly host a game.

2. Mods
You're forgetting that this also means no custom maps. I can't play a custom map in MW2 if it's made in UDK. The game is in dire need of more maps, too. Bigger ones. I was actually happy when they lowered the player limit, because the maps in CoD4:MW were too small for the player counts. Then, they lowered the map sizes too, so it's just as cramped.

3. Pussification of FPS
My only gripes about actual gameplay are the removal of leaning, which I used a lot in CoD4:MW, and the goddamn FOV. I've been playing the game every night, and it's a lot of fun when you're not fighting with the idiosyncrasies of IWNET. The perks are cool, the weapon attachment system is cool, the callsign system is cool.

While I totally agree the lack of voting is an oversight on IW's part, I don't think its enough to fault the game as a whole. I do not think (after playing it) that the loss of dedicated servers is really that big of a difference. But I do agree that voting would be nice.

I agree there needs to be more maps, and I'm pretty sure its going to be monetized. I wish they could have some middle ground. And at best, like BattleNet's ablity to put a price on your maps and sell them.

I rarely used the lean. And IMO it make sniping a little unbalanced on some maps.

Really? That's it; no dedicated servers, bye? You can't be serious there? Are you even in the slightest bit taking gaming seriously or you're another one of these dumbass consumers fanbois who'd go by 2 Kills 50 Deaths on pubs? Less cheating than MW1? Did you constantly play on NON-PB servers with no active server admins?

I love this game it's so great IW is doing a good job, heck, why bother comparing what we had in the past! Let's just incline to their decision and let it be!! And I can't wait to play their next World of Duty for only 20 bucks a month!
