Prestige has always been about the icon, and used to be nothing more. It's exactly that; prestige - showing off that you've done all the ranks, and are doing it again because you want to.

And thankfully - it is only cosmetic. Like the Golden AK-47.

I think you guys are reading this information all wrong. They're not talking about paying a monthly fee to play the game. This is all about digital content distribution coupled with micro transactions.

Note that they refer to what is working in World of Warcraft. What's the big new thing in WoW right now? How about the WoW petstore? Now think about the system they are talking about having in StarCraft 2. They don't want you to pay a monthly fee for online play. They want you to pay a little bit here and there for an extra map or an extra character model.

Yes and no, it's true that they are not talking about a monthly fee to play online at all, but neither is this just your usual payware DLC map and skin pack, they are talking about renting that DLC, with a monthly fee, instead of buying it.

And it's not just maps and skins, perks are beeing mentioned, so it seems quite possible that they want to set it up so players will need to rent this stuff, lest they want to get creamed on the servers by thouse who do.

Ultimately, whilst they are stopping just shy of holding a gun to your head and forcing a monthly fee to play (they probably know people would object), that's probably exactly what you'll need to do if you want to enjoy the game fully, it really wont take much to force your hand, be it an overpowered perk you will have little defense against unless you pay, or withholding basic things you need to enjoy the game, and making them a rental luxury.

Activision is in this to make big money, and they wont be doing that renting out skins and maps alone, i'll bet you there's going to be a hook here, something big enough that most players will feel they need to rent it to play the game, it wont just be cosmetic..

Yeah I know. But like I said, at least there was some kind of reward in WaW besides the icon: the extra custom class slots. I was just curious if anyone knew for sure whether in MW2 prestige gets you anything besides the icons or not.

Otherwise, I'll probably just stay at 70 until I get bored.

I just finished the single player story. Talk about garbage! Good lord. They would have been better off making a WW2 game again with the fancy graphics engine, or maybe even just remaking CoD4 with the newer graphics engine. Most action movies and their stupid cliches are more tolerable than this junk. What were they thinking? Talk about taking a nose dive in quality from CoD4.

Anyways lucky for them multiplayer is fun and the co-op spec ops missions are fun too.

I didn't think the story was that bad. there are plenty worse plots in movies out there. Also bare in mind it is a Game studio doing the story not a seasoned movie professional.

Personally I thought it was enjoyable enough for a brain-off action game.

So here's how long it takes to join a game, for me at least.

IWNet fail

It's a ****ing joke tbh maybe one day people will make something that works.

Game matching sux major ass. Yeah I know what else is new. Just right now there are plenty of people on and I got a half bar twice for my connection. 1 bar is completely unplayable. But half a bar? I have to join 10 games before I get a good connection 3 bars or higher. It is completely retarded to join game after game and get 1 bar or less 5 times in a row.

Just completed the single player and it wasn't as bad as some people say it is. Yeah its a little convoluted and it skips around alot, but it was intense none the less.

It was fun to play through, but imagine if you had to pay $10 to watch that in a theater. You'd fee like you wasted your money.

At least I would.

Really? The story was pretty atrocious by game standards, and a videogame studio doing story isn't really *that* much of a stretch.
CoD4 had a very solid, connected campaign, as opposed to the disjointed stuff MW2 showed. It screamed design-by-committee, was more about the spectacle than anything else, and for some reason they let level designers make levels that both made me get lost, AND I was getting shot from 5 floors above me (with no clear visual indication or level guiding me to fight with that in mind), from behind, with infinite spawning guys.

The SP campaign was a slap in the face.

Search and Destroy.

There's your problem. :)

Heh, if it was mw i could have been in a s&d match in seconds :(

Once you start playing this game thoigh, it gets worse.. You can feel the cinsole port leaking through. The limited recoil means anyone can spray away and not have to think about their aim going off. The decelopers seem to be complete noobs with the amount of **** that goes bang, explosive wise. Some of the guns are a complete joke, especially the fast ass shotgun :/
The lag compensation is truly stupid. I've pulled off a good 30 no-scopes at varying range. Id say about 10 looked like they hit.
Commando perk... A knife thst can reach about 5ft from where the animation reaches is retarded.
Death streaks... Meh if you're thst bad you shouldnt be rewarded.
The heli gunner. Wow. Balanced. /sarcasm
silencers. On a ****ing sniper rifle?!? Dumb.. But they dont feel power ful anyway.

all in all. I dont see this game going very far. Especially in the competitive scene. It's noob freindly, it feels wrong on pc, compared to mw.

Oh and no, i don't think there is anything i like. Other then killing some noobs which got boring, so i went back to MW.

I got a kick out of the heart beat monitor on the Barrett .50 sniper rifle. lol What a waste.

I also noticed a half second delay from when I shoot to when I see the impact, no matter how close to a wall I am. Its strange.

And about the story, how many main characters do you need to kill off before the dramatic affect isn't so dramatic anymore? How many stupid slow-motion scenes do you really need? Seriously. It's like that whole bullet-time thing. It's overkill! Just play the stupid game!
