This Shao guy makes (2-word) comments which make absolutely no sense (even less then redfists :p), with which he bumps maps from 3-4 years ago to the top of the last commented list, where newer maps should be.

Can someone do somehting about this? It's VERY annoying, let alone the comments he makes......

I don't mine old maps being bumped, but only if they had no comments on before and are worth 6/10+ (ie, they deserve some attention). Bumping crap maps released 3 years ago which already have 20 comments on them is the most pointless thing in the world.

Dark Ages...

There is nothing wrong with seeing old maps returned to the front page, in my opinion. The NC archive is a treasure trove of old gems from the dim distant past despite the fact there is also a lot of garbage as well.

What I personally don't enjoy is the amount of comments being made by people who haven't bothered to download and play the map whether it is new or four years old. This seems to be happening more and more of late.

I'm sure mappers don't return to this site just to receive comments like: "I haven't tried this but..."

It really doesn't show much respect for the mappers efforts. Whether the end result is map heaven or gargbage is another matter......

As for what the other comments are I think maybe it's a good idea if we all try and get along. (As long as others don't start this flammage all over again and then it will just end up in another flamewar as was the case last fortnight).

Is it really worth the energy ragging on people? That time and energy might have been better put into downloading and commenting....

Hers an idea for you kids, I tried to help a guy get a map working that he downloaded from here, CTF-Bedroomsge I think, well I could'nt help him because the map is missing files, so rather than waste your time flaming on the maps site as well as here, why don't some of you go thru all the maps and if it dont have all thats needed to work included, delete them from the site, now that would be constructive.

I myself had this problem once with a map on the Hotlist, DM-Brunnel was missing texture files, and it was on the Hotlist, too Lame, and you kids think your 1337 LOL.

It used richrig which is pretty much a standard texture file, it's been long accepted that people didn't need to include richrig with their map.
And you know how long it would take to go through 7000 maps looking for file dependancies? Gigabytes of maps...
Also considering it's even more difficult since there might be file version mismatches etc. etc.

if you were missing a file from brunel, which 99.9% of people were running correctly, it was probably your fault.

LOL no it wasnt my fault, richrig is not part of the origanl ut or in any of the bonus packs 1-4, it was your dudes fault for not making sure a map included all the files needed and still posting it on a hotlist. there are tons of maps like that on your site, and no Bot 40 I dont think it would be impossible to set up a clean install of ut and start checking maps 1 by 1, with all of you doing it would'nt take too long and would defenitly be more constructive than the crap I see you wasting time with here.

Seems all you want to do is complain I guess it makes you happy:)

RichRig is a pretty popular texture pack for UT, most of the real popular maps that have been around for years use it, and alot of big mainstream mods have used it. It is pretty much as easy to come by as SG_Tech from the UT Bonus pack. Would you make a fuss if a map didn't include SG_Tech with the zip?

Lruce, the author, didn't include the file because it would make the filezie larger and since 99% of all UT players already had the file since nearly all DM maps possessed a few textures from the set in one form or another, he did not include it. Personally, I would have if I were him, but In the many years that Brunel has been out, this is the first time I heard anyone complain about it. The fact is that most UT players have it, if you don't then all I can say is welcome to the UT community.

created content is the responisbility of the author, not ours
it is the authors problem if the map works or not, or if it sucks or not
not ours so how about stop complaining
we already scan map on missing files but the database is 6 years old and some parts never had a scan

live with it or buy a duck
