Hmm, ok. So it's booting up, and the monitor is getting a video signal, but it freezes/dies after 10-15 seconds?

- Video card is working. If it wasn't, you wouldn't get a video signal.
- Memory is inserted properly. If it wasn't, you wouldn't get a video signal and it'd beep at you. Repeatedly.

I would suspect the powersupply first. What brand is it? Enermax, or some other brand? Try swapping it out and using another PSU (from your old comp... if it's less than 300w forget it, otherwise take out unnecessary cards and see if the old PSU fixes the prob).

If all else fails...

CRAZINESS!!!!

I worked all day on this POS box and I combined all your suggestions....

What worked for me?

I dismantled just about everything, unplugged everything from power supply, and switched heatsinks... reconnected the bare basics.... got it to turn on... put everything back in the case... plugged everything back in...

VOILA

I can't thank you all enough for your help... I was in a terminally bad mood last night when it seemed nothing would work.

D66... I'm in Fairfax 5 miles outside Beltway... you live out where my former roommate lives. Not many of us in DC area, eh? :)

Last year my computer did funny stuff like turn on and off all on its own.

Taking it all apart and putting it all back together fixed it too =)
I tried this a few times, I always run into problems resoldering the motherboard chips on though.
