Brush clipping or vertex editing?

Both tools can be used for similar results but so far I have mostly
used brush clipping for my complex brushes and on occasion have
used vertex editing where necessary.

.
What I would like to know is ...
.
What is the prefered method for making complex brushes?

Which method should I use more often?
Or should I say, which one will get me in the least trouble in the
future?

Thank you ...

I use both quite extensively, and have not encountered any serious problems in either method. I don't know if one is really better or worse.

I normally use brush clipping on cube brushes, to make them less square and less ordinary, and from what i can tell it simply becomes a different shaped brush. I suppose you could reason with brush clipping you can increase the number of polies, the more cuts you make (more complex you get.)

With vertex editing, you'll keep the same number of sides on the original brush, and i normally use it for trim, supports, ramps/slants as well as generic or rocky terrain shapes.

Use them all. (1) Careful when vertex editing because you can build invalid brushes. (2) Clipping brushes will always keep things on the same plane (less problems). Also, 3-point clipping function is nice for complex brushes, once you get comfortable using it.
