I have 2 problems with the blood... well kinna 3..

1. Blood... there is not enough of it!! all I see is a piff of blook and mabey a splat :p I'm sure that 50cal is gonna do more than that :D

2. piffs... like I said in a post a few months ago.. they look like some one dropped there red marbles!! :p

and kinna...

3. Gibs, I'm sure people when hit with a grenade do get blow apart. no person stays intact after being hit with a grenade like that. and plus, people's bodies don't fly like that! :p

Maybe UT should have an option to Increase Gore level rather than to decrease it :D

I think there's an mutater for it. But heard it hurts the framerate :)

I don't have (luckly) any real blood fight experience...

So iI don't know what a 50BMG or a hand grenade wounded guy look like. But I imagine something messier than that we have in INF at this time.

umm... there IS a website that has images of what a 50cal dose to a person, but its way to graphic to post here

my suggestion is watch Saving Private Ryan.

my book "the compendium of Contermporary weapons" by palladium books is a RPG suplment book that works hard to keep modren combat realistic.

under the "Shock Rules" in the "Superior damage and shock" it has this to say

The highest caliber rifle rounds and machinegun rounds (P.V. 7*) inflict incredible damage and trauma to the body.

A character shot by a superior caliber/machingun round will lose ALL of his melee action/attacks for that round and the next 3D4** rounds as a result of shock. This attack knocks the character off his feet and there is a 60% chance of losing consciousness for 2D4 minutes! The machinegun victem is also likely (80%) to drop anything that he was holding at the time of the shooting. If shot in the arm or the hand the character will drop any item he was holding in it at the time and that limb will be useless (it may even be shot off).

The character semi-recovers from shock only after several minutes. Bloodloss and pain will be severe. Speed is reduced by 80%, the number of attacks per melee rounds is reduced to one, combat bonuses are reduced to sero and additional penalties should be applied to strike, parry and dodge. Skill preformance is reduced by 90%. Unless the charcter gets medical attention he wil die!

The Plladium System: The above holds true, but (natural or with bonuses) is need to save and P.E.*** bonuses are applicable. A successful save means the charcter is stunned for only half the time, but all penalties and blood loss remain unchanged.

*P.V. 7 examples are .50 caliber spotting rifle rounds, .50 caliber browning rounds, 14.5mm soviet rounds
**xDy means x number of y sided dice, 3D4 would be 3, 4 sided dice.

Grenades won't blow a man apart. They will cause massive tearing cavition of his body but they don't contain enough power to blow a man's body apart, even if someone jumped ontop of it. In the case of someone covering it with their body it would merely crush every rib and internal organ in their torso and possibly break their back.

Then again dead is dead, so I don't really see why it matters.

I think they are hoping for a limb or two to go flying. Not really necessary IMO, but when the team has nothing else to do (fat chance of that) maybe they could add detachable limbs that we can send flying.

What we need is a decal stay option. I LOVE seeing the high quality blood splats on a wall after I waste somebody. I just wish they were there the next time I walked by the wall. Bullet holes would be the same. I know it adds to fps but that's why it'd be an option. Besides INF doesn't use as many decals since ammo and targets are rather limited compared to regular UT so you can get away with displaying them for much longer.

The decals should stay until your FPS reaches a user defineable level, at which point the game will start removing the oldest decals currently in view until the fps is back up above the user defined amount. I'd LOVE to see this as decalstay doesn't work with INF.

They count the 14.5 in the same category as the .50 cal?
The 14.5mm has over twice the energy of the .50 cal, I imagine getting hit by that will really ruin your day (and the clothes of anybody in the immediate vicinity :)).

Anyway I'd like to see LESS bloodpuffs, from any footage i've seen of people getting shot with small arms I've not seen even one single bloodpuff.

The .50 caliber IS messy.. Regarding how messy a hit is, there's a big difference in the ammo used, not just energy! A projectile that sheers right through it's target with a small exit wound isn't as messy. But generally the situation with small arms would be that the initial effect wouldn't be as bloody, but given time a gut hit without proper bandaging will be messy! But then again, if we are going for the big realisim talk here, it annoys me more that the INF soldiers uniform is as clean as ever ;-)

Here is a link with wounded guy pictures. Be carefull it is an explicit material !

It proves the unrealist caracteristics of wounds in INF.
