Perhaps them saying they were working on a pc demo was just a way to shut people up. Looked like it worked for a while :)

I think that's just because everyone just stopped caring.

This game had a **** ton of hype that made many people think it was going to be the next big thing. It just didn't live up to that hype at all.
While it might be fun and exciting for one playthrough. One playthrough isn't worth its price. And it's lacking multiplayer because "getting owned isn't fun" was a complete deal breaker for me.

As two companies that have produced some of the finest FPS games there is. To me Bulletstorm didn't live up to what it could have been. I still haven't purchased it, probably won't unless that demo or a patch ever arrives. Seems to have just been left behind. The game clearly has a ton of issues, that Epic have claimed they'll fix, but when it takes this long for there to not be any announcement of them coming out. Its had it.

It's whole "Kill with Skill" to me still sounds stupid. From all of the videos of the game, it seems skill is irrelevant, "Kill with Style" would have been a more appropriate tag line, imo. Skill should have been left for UT.

It still has all the issues the retail one has. letterboxing, aim assist enabled, encrypted inis etc. Also mouse sens in this game is pathetic. On lowest it's still 3-4 times too high.

As for the game itself. Meh. Didn't find it fun, As long as you complete it you still win, so you can get a score of 5 or 50000.
It took me longer to install and uninstall then it did for me to actually play through it to find out it wasn't fun.
Which really wasn't helped by the fact I couldn't aim with such a high sens :/

And somehow, this runs worse then Anything I've ever played. high settings which don't look all that special compared to Crysis1 or 2 and I get 20FPS :\
I get more in Homefront and that's a recent UE3 game so god knows what they did. I get 10-15FPS in that night&day UDK map..

Ah well, one day they might make another decent game.

Thank you Hal & Brizz for the review. May be later than the magazines but it's nice to finally have a PC-centric viewpoint which is missing from other reviews focusing on the console versions. I had no idea it was so QTE heavy... :(

I know this is a controversial topic here, but did you guys have any issues connecting online through GFWL? It sounds like Anarchy is best played with friends and not as pub games. Alias, all my friends have consoles so...

I'll wait till the price comes down, though will definitely try out the recently released demo :D

With hal I was able to make and play a game. However, I tried to play with Haarg and we could not connect to each other. So there are certainly some weird issues there. I won't lie, I hate GFWL and think that NOBODY should be using it for their games. Sadly, Bulletstorm is just another arrow in the quiver of perfect examples of why GFWL is awful.

BU's review is awfully short and superficial. And it isn't that PC-centric at all. Hence they didn't mention anything about

- the resolution performance issues and the unsupported PC aspect ratios of 16:10 and 4:3 (letterbox issue)
- the clumsy inteface (press <Enter>, <Space>, <V> to apply settings, <Space> to confirm and such bull****)
- the limited graphical configuration options, lack of DX11
- the mouse smoothing, FOV, and encrypted configuration files problem
- the lack of PC moding tools, Editor etc
- multiple action bindings in one key, lack of jump
- the lack of text messaging in Multiplayer

and many others that plague the PC version.

Personally I'd say that one specific part at the end of the game was QTE heavy (which would have made otherwise a really good 1on1 battle in a first person shooter).
Overall it's extremely far from being filled with QTEs, unlike many other action games that abuse in every possible occasion.

That's because we decided to, you know, review the game instead of nitpicking about details that, let's be honest, most people don't give a crap about and just make PC gamers seem like the snobby buttholes they all think we are.

How the crap is "lack of DX11" a problem? How many games have DX11 right now? I think it's worse that it doesn't really support DX10 considering how GoW PC DID support DX10. Who cares about DX11...

Lack of modding tools was a given. We knew this weeks before the game came out so if you bought it expecting them, bad on you.

Multiple actions on one key makes total sense. GoW PC was the same way. This is a console game, why wouldn't they do that?

I had already started a thread about dumb things in Bullestorm. However, You'll notice that I did not mention resolution crap or key bindings in that post, either.

P.S. That FiringSquad review is TERRIBLE and they get paid to write reviews.

Yeah, sorry it didn't do it for you, but that Firing Squad review ain't that great in my opinion. It also didn't mention any of that stuff that you were mad we didn't mention. But I'm not going to pick it apart because I frankly don't care about it.

As to the other stuff, I think some of those are good points, but some are merely preference. Letterboxing is not unusual. The interface is a legitimate annoyance. No support for DX11 - that's a stretch. Mouse smoothing is a legitimate annoyance but FOV and encrypted files are a design choice. Everyone knew about no editor - this is a review and not a news item. Multiple actions on one key - a design choice (not a good one imo). Text messaging - an annoyance (and I think we all know why it's not in there).

PCF keep making blog post about old, deja-vue campaign stuff "Hihi lookie, someone made a song about P Tallylicker Dinausaur", yet no PC patch were released, they behave like they care about the game they've made, yet they act like they don't give a ****.

I really don't understand this studio, it's a weird one for sure.

They can't constantly apologize for errors in the game and bring up that they're still working on fixing them (i.e. haven't fixed them yet!) once a week. What kind of message would that send to people who're interested in the game?

Of course they're going with the positive "hey, remember/look how awesome this part of the game is" news items.
Doesn't mean they don't care about the game anymore and aren't working on updates. Doesn't make them weird either.

I'd expect a patch around the time the DLC hits (this seems to be how things go on the 360). If there's a delay in patching the game, I'd blame Microsoft first and foremost. Their title update certification process is notorious for delaying updates, and most of the contracts seem to have clauses that prevent developers from updating all the other platforms before the 360. I thought we've been over this with Borderlands?

Of course, because the PC version uses GFWL, chances are they'll be patching the game via that.

They can't just drop a patch any time they want. All three platforms require certification on the patch before it can be pushed out for release. for all we know, they released a patch 4 weeks ago and it's been in certification the whole time.

It was the same with Section 8, they'd hammer up a patch and MS's cert would take a month and a half or two months to clear it

Makes me miss the old days of 2k4 where patches came quick, worked fine and were barely over 12MB in size

If only they had gone with Steamworks for the PC - absolutely no certification for patches neccessary...

It's simply mystifying why they would opt to go with GFWL when they clearly had no obligation to do so.

Storyline summary

Y'know, back in outer space we used to drink -
a lot We used to take all kinds of kick-ass drugs
And showed blatant disrespect for any authority figures
Little did we know we were undermining our entire value system...
At that time I was serving in the Masters 3rd Scumdog Legion
aboard a planetary infection barge,
attempting to obey a host of confusing orders,
but mostly satisfying only our lust for slaughter ravingly drunk half the time,
I only realized a battle had started
when I heard the roar of the fleets plasma bombardment.
Piling into our armored assault pods we began our descent
to the planets pulverized surface.
We were met by a flight of primitive interceptors
which we devastated with soaring blast of nuclear hatred,
flashing through the debris cloud into the atmosphere below.
The obliteration of Flab Quarv 7 On the horizon was the blazing outlines
of a bombed city, the outlying areas dotted with flaming craters
and fleeing refuges I vomited out the window and led our battalion
on a blazing attack on the non-combatants pulpifying their flesh
in a rain of sulfuric plasma burst.
The mass mutilation of a world ensued,
with those not being fit for slave labor being herded
into gigantic flaming pits.
We laughed as several thousand years
of cultural development were wiped out
in a single blundering instant.
Gorged on guts, gouged out eyes
Captives fill the breeding hive
Desecrate their sovereign world
Bloated, bloody, drunken churl
Cultures crumble, races die
Stench of midgets fill the sky
Smashing skulls with ghastly crunch
Pretty soon we'll break for lunch
Later, as we flew through deep space
Ritually disemboweling our victims
The navigator informed us that we
Attacked the wrong planet.
