Thanks, our review shots have long been just images to accompany the text as it appears in the table of the fixed layout. We all see plenty of publisher issued screens, videos, etc, so for some reason, to me, it doesn't seem as important to add large clickable pics to compete with the review. But that's just my opinion.

I agree with most of it.

The story is EPIC (not epic).
That means the games start with a crashed spaceship, in a prison (GoW) or both (Unreal) and end in a space-/rescue-pod. ;)

I think the game is too linear, although I am aware of the fact that multiple ways are not what this game is about. What I mean ist that it felt a bit like a rail-shooter but you could move a bit to the left and right on the railrod.

Now imagine this:
A game about creative ways to "kill with skill" that let's you be really creative by offering more then 2 (+1) weapons and a leash at once for really creative weapon-combo-kills. And with a less limited movement one might also offer more creativity by including movement in your kill combos.
With less limit in freedom and in a more open leveldesign one could also have more places to go to try different (more creative) approaches to killing.

Gameplay is a good start. Needs more kick skills and air kicks I guess

Aside the gameplay, I really enjoyed the fact that you feel like you are actually travelling throughout the planet. Just like in Unreal where I saw the Sunspire in the skyboxes and I thought that it was a possible destination. In this game the effect is done much better though.
The environments are amazing indeed.

I managed to get a couple more hours into a borrowed copy to check again after a disappointing demo run that just didn't do it for me.
Totally agree on the art side of things, the environments are a sight to behold - an amazing job those guys did.
It's the gameplay I had a problem with.
I played this on my PS3 and it was just impossible to feel comfortable with the controls to get a good flow going - I was constantly fumbling around with button mashing to the point of frustration.
The constant swearing and bad language was trite and hackneyed as well - not cool guys.
If they had turned this into a cool single player game, I might have been interested in picking this up but as it was, I handed it back the following day.

I agree. I definitely think the game is fun and worth having, but not at $60. Probably not even at $50.

As for graphics, I have a last generation machine (q6600, Radeon HD5750, 4gb ram) and I ran the game at max details with no slowdowns.

Well I don't own it so I cannot really comment fairly, I do intend getting it but justifying full price has been the main problem. as I said I do think its moment will come in Steam sales.

Thing is with graphics it's probably worth having some mad ultra maxxed DX11 mode as the system breaking games like Crysis never really go away as they're always popping up in card reviews keeping a game looking fresh and current.

Of all the games I have played this generation I think this is the best looking game out of all of them!
And it's fun to boot...I really enjoyed it but there's not much value after one run through!

Bulletstorm is a game where you learn, at some point in the game, that looking for the most incredible "sick" ways of killing your opponent for the biggest score ever is in the easiest ways. Things like repeatedly kick enemies for Vodoo Doll/Shocker, or just grab a penetrator and score 8000K+ for lining up 5 enemies and sending them accidentally in a hazardous "trap".

The label that said "Kill with skills" is not relevant in any ways.

The game could have been better if:

  • It would base score on your efficiency and rapidity, a dynamic score system that knows the last 5 skillshots you've done and reduce --CONSTANTLY-- all the way to ZERO the points you get for doing these skills repeatedly.
  • It would have mod support so the community can keep it breathing.
  • It would have been tested.

Yeah, no score. I think we'll probably ditch the scoring system in favor of likes/dislikes. Hopefully you get more out of the review text than you do a number anyhow. Numbers seem to mean different things to different people, whereas I can tell you why I do or don't like something and you can decide whether or not you agree.

it has some awesome moments, but it wasn't worth $60 and since the game hasn't been patched yet, it's loosing more and more value for me.
/me remembers when EPIC did a patch one week after the "flying leviathan" bug was found on UT2004. (it was a very fun week though. :D)

Thanks again, Flak for the game, anyways. I'm hoping to see EPIC support it.

my 2 cents on the game :
- the overall enjoyement I had was about average even though it had great moments.
- The skillshots points is terribly unbalanced. you have too few at the beginning and too much afterwards. Why not have health and armor that you resplendish with skillpoints at drop pods instead of the free regeneration ?
- quicktime events for nothing. I mean... it's OK for some stuff... maybe. but here it's almost a game-breaking device. the final "boss" is only in QTE, and I was like "oh no you've got to be kidding me !" and it was the most boring thing ever ! instead of QTE for "shoot something", why not do a "quick, shoot this thing !" with a red glow or something like that and the player has to aim and shoot that thing ? it would be fun in the intro, instead of having a QTE to shoot the bottle over the guy's head, to be able to aim, and shoot the bottle or the guy.

- the penetrator auto-aiming. :(

- have more enemies at the same time in MP ! I want a horde of crazy maniacs wanting to kill me !

- where's the "new game +" mode where you have all the guns at any given time with all unlocks ?
- interface improvements needed !

-very fun moments, especially when you control the giant godzilla robot which shoots lasers with it's eyes. :)
