For the next UT, only enable autotaunt for singleplayer.

If a player is going to taunt another player it should be manually.

For some reason it seems like no matter what I do in settings I can't filter out the autotaunts and get the manual taunts, maybe it's because I had the mac version?

Make the autotaunts more specific, aswell. Just having some inane spammish voice taunt you after everytime you get killed is freakin annoying. If there are going to be autotaunts make them more specific and smart. If you get killed with a headshot you should hear someone scream headshot.

Maybe you could make the taunt interface more easily accessible and configurable, so someone could bind a menu toggle then they could bind their own keys to each specific category, instead of having to use the numbers.

Perhaps instead of autotaunts you could have a menu come up everytime you kill a player and you can select a taunt that fits the scenario.

The animation taunts were done quite well in ut2k4. :)

I think it would also be cool if you could hear certain taunts in 3d instead of it being messaged into your ear. So when you are in a duel with someone you can hear them taunting everytime they get a shot on you and it would seem like they are shouting at you, instead of something being communicated into your earpiece.

Off course
Ehm...it takes about 10 seconds to disable them...on pc version (I even had it turned off before my first game :p ).

Taunt interface was good. I wouldn't even mind if it was only bindable from within the user.ini file to make it harder for "those guys" (you know...the same ones who continuously spam the alternative horn).

I think it would be cool if you could configure your own taunt menu.

It would be better if you could make your own categories and your own binds to control them instead of having to press the number buttons to use the menu.

ala tribes3. I tend to find when I actually take that much time to set something up, I quickly lose interest in using it. Like all those scripts I wrote for JK:A, and now I don't play it at all...

Somone once said this statistic about people who purchased this game... like less then 10% of the people who bought it play it online. So literally, this means that that setting is mostly enabled by default for single player games. They prolly just didn't see the need to change the default for actual online play.

I agree though, the auto-taunt thing is lame, and might only be cool if it A: Took an ini hack to enable, and B: Took a similar ini hack to ignore. Manual taunts are better though, nothing more annoying then hearing the same taunt every time someone frags.

Next.

I tend to leave Auto taunt on since I play SP a lot. For some reason it makes me feel better when fragging those annoying bots. As if they are going to hear it or even care, right? lol. I would rather have an option to disable bot auto taunting so I don't get as pissed when being owned by a Godlike bot :p.

sounds like someone get's killed a lot... In the past i had it on cause people really got pissed about it when u fragged them more then often and i had a great time doing so :D . But for peace sake if turned it of so hotheads like u can still have a good game. Still u should ask urself why u get pissed about a random event the given player doesnt control... getting pissed about that is just stupid IMO.

I never have autotaunts on. In fact, I never taunt at all.

Ironic comments... now that's different ;)

Blah. Lighten up. Auto-taunts are fun. I don't use them in 2k4, mainly because you automatically yell "same team". I'll do that myself, if I think it's necessary, thank you. But in UT it was fun when most people had them on. And the voices were better. But you don't have to play them if you don't want to hear them.

Definitely they need to fix the taunt/command menu. The pull-down menu in UT was easier to manage. With the 2kx menu, I always have to pause if I'm using it with bots, and I never touch it online.

For manual taunts, the text should show so you know who is talking (like UT), and most of all, they gotta bring back "Ha ha ha!"

I remember making 5-6 sentence conversations during practice rounds using taunts only.

-"I need some backup"
"On it"
-"You like that?"
"Oh yeah"
-"Roger That"

Heheh, I've done that quite a few times in co-op games. We started out with the default voices but switched to custom voicepacks such as worf, joe pesci, clint eastwood, arnold schwarzenegger etc... it was hilarious :D

Although the combinations of the default voicepacks aren't bad either...:O)
UT voices are indeed great.

(... man ut2K3 voices were so lame :/...)

I can't remember the UT2K4 voices, been too long)

For that arnold voice taunt, please tell me you had one that said "Get to the choppa!!"

And the UT2k4 voices are exactly the same as 2k3. The only taunt i use is the "Negative" taunt, and i really dont know why.

I've gotta' admit the taunts are my favourite part of the game, whether it's using cool voice packs of which there are a few in the upcoming CVP that are hilarious or the animation taunts which we need a lot more of rather than the current crappy models with a few taunts (I wish - guaranteed this will be a major letdown as it's been in UT-UT2k4).

Personally I always have it on by default and couldn't imagine it any other way... and where would I ever find the time to configure keys or whatever to taunt manually and what keys to use  ;)

I never use Auto-Taunt, myself. I do it manually.

The ability to set up taunts that your character would automatically say under certain conditions would be a great - scratch that - awesome feature, though! For example, you could set it up so your character automatically says "I'm sorry, did I blow your head apart?" when you score a Headshot. :D

 Are you sure?

From my personal experience, if you used the voice menu in "UT", you have to hold still while using it, 'cause the menu takes over your mouse and keyboard while you're using it. You can't move, shoot, or anything!

In "UT 2003/2004", however, you can still run, jump, shoot, dodge, and stuff while the menu's open, since it uses the number keys and scroll wheel (that means you can't switch weapons, though) - MUCH better, IMHO. :)

I don't hate the "UT 2003/2004" voices, but the voices and taunts in "UT" ARE classic. :D:tup: (There's some good stuff in "Unreal Championship 2", too...I'm not crazy about Brock's voice in that game, though.)

They brought that back in "Unreal Championship 2", so maybe they will bring that back for "UT 2007". :)
